flydubai To Add Four New European Destinations

Presently, flydubai operates flights to 39 destinations in Europe. By mid-October 2024, that figure will increase to 43 and the number of European countries it serves to 21.

On August 2, 2024, flydubai will become the first UAE-based carrier to operate direct flights between Dubai and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The airport gives easy access to three countries as it is situated on the borders of northwest Switzerland, the Alsace region in France and Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Flight numbers FZ 1425/1426 will serve passengers on this route four times a week, with fares starting from AED 1,500 or CHF 500.

A little over two months later, on October 11, 2024, flydubai will commence three weekly flights (FZ 1441/1442) to and fro Riga International Airport, Latvia. Fares start from AED 1,920 or EUR 380. The following day, October 12, 2024, the Dubai-based airline will start three times-a-week services to and fro Tallinn Airport, Estonia (FZ 1479/1480) and Vilnius International Airport, Lithuania (FZ 1263/1264). The ticket prices start from AED 2,100 (or EUR 490) and AED 2,180 (or EUR 380), respectively.

All four services mentioned above will operate from Terminal 3 of the Dubai International Airport.

airBaltic Welcomes Its 47th Airbus A220

Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, has taken delivery of its 47th Airbus A220. More specifically, it’s an A220-300 registered as YL-ABU in the carrier’s hub, Riga. What became the first aircraft delivery for 2024 is part of the 50 A220-300s on order with the European aircraft manufacturer.

In November last year, airBaltic extended its order for the said aircraft. That bumped the backlog to 80 jets of the same type. Back then, the carrier had forty-four Airbus A220-300s in operation. In fact, airBaltic is the largest operator of this single-aisle aeroplane type worldwide.

Since May 2020, airBaltic operates all its flights using the above-mentioned aircraft. To date, the airline has carried nearly 14.48 million passengers using Airbus A220-300 jets. The fleet has jointly completed over 160,000 flights and flown 352,000 block hours.
