Emirates To Launch Flights To Madagascar

From September 3, 2024, Emirates will launch flights to the world’s fourth-largest island country – Madagascar. The service between Dubai and Antananarivo, with a scheduled stopover in Mahe, Seychelles, will operate four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The outbound flight – EK707 – will depart Dubai and land in Mahe at 08:55 and 13:35, respectively. After a short halt, the flight will continue to arrive in Antananarivo at 16:50. The return leg – EK708 – will leave Antananarivo at 18:35 and arrive in Mahe at 22:20. Post a stopover of 1 hour and 30 minutes, the flight will depart Mahe and land in Dubai at 23:50 and 04:20 the next day, respectively. All times mentioned are local.

On the newly announced route, passengers will be served by a Boeing 777-300ER. The widebody aircraft will have a three-class configuration – 8 suites in First Class, 42 suites in Business Class and 310 Economy seats. Tickets are already available via the airline’s official website and travel agents.

Air India To Start Bengaluru-London Gatwick Service

Presently, Air India operates flights to London Gatwick from four Indian cities – Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa and Kochi. Come August 18, 2024, Bengaluru will bump that count to five. The carrier will operate five weekly flights between the capital of Karnataka and London Gatwick on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flight AI177 will depart Bengaluru at 13:05 and land at London Gatwick Airport at 19:05. The return service—AI178—will leave London Gatwick at 20:35 and arrive in Bengaluru at 10:50 the next day. On the newly announced route, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, comprising 18 flat beds in Business Class and 238 Economy seats, will serve passengers.

Once the Bengaluru-London Gatwick service goes live, Air India will have 17 weekly flights to and from London’s second-largest airport. In addition, the airline operates 31 weekly flights to London Heathrow and six weekly services to and from Birmingham.

British Airways Confirms New Route To Finland

From December 3, 2024, until February 14, 2025, British Airways’ (BA) subsidiary BA Euroflyer will operate two weekly flights between London Gatwick and Ivalo, home to Finland’s northernmost airport. Located deep within the Arctic Circle, Ivalo attracts visitors worldwide during the winter season. The small town is also the gateway to Saariselkä, a resort village with several winter activities, including snowmobile safaris, skiing, snowshoeing and toboggan rides.

The outbound flight – BA2860 – will depart from London Gatwick at 08:35 and land at Ivalo at 14:30. The return leg – BA2861 – will leave from Ivalo and land at London Gatwick at 15:30 and 17:30, respectively. All times mentioned are local. Both to and fro flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays. Fares for return flights start at GBP 345, and an Airbus A320 will serve the route.

Besides Ivalo, BA Euroflyer will also operate a daily service to Larnaca, Cyprus, during the winter season from November 4, 2024. That means BA will offer flights to Larnaca from London Heathrow and London Gatwick over the winter.

Cathey Pacific Announces Direct Flights To Riyadh

Hong Kong-based airline Cathey Pacific has confirmed that from October 28, 2024, it will begin operating three direct weekly flights between its primary hub, Hong Kong, and the capital of Saudi Arabia – Riyadh.

An Airbus A350-900 will serve passengers and cargo on the newly announced route. The aircraft will have a three-class configuration, comprising Business, Premium Economy and Economy sections.

The outbound flight – CX647 – will depart Hong Kong at 15:05 and land in Riyadh at 20:15. The return flight – CX648 – will leave Riyadh at 22:15 and arrive in Hong Kong at 11:10 the next day. Both services between the two cities will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Emirates Starts Flights To Bogotá

The Dubai-based airline announced earlier this year it will begin flights to the Colombian capital, Bogotá, in the summer. Well, the link has been established. It’ll be a daily service with a stopover in Miami, Florida. A three-class Boeing 777-300ER will serve the newly activated route between Dubai and Bogotá. The aircraft will boast eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 304 in Economy Class. Besides ferrying passengers, each Emirates flight will also offer up to 20 tonnes of additional cargo capacity.

Flight EK213 departs Dubai at 02:15 and lands in Miami at 10:05. After a two-hour stopover, the flight leaves Miami at 12:05 and reaches Bogotá at 14:55. The return flight—EK214—departs from Bogotá at 17:19 and arrives in Miami at 22:15. At 00:45 the next day, the flight leaves Miami and lands in Dubai at 23:00. All times mentioned are local.
