Summer Spotting

A collection of my car spots on the continent this summer.

It struck me this summer, as it does every time I venture out to the Algarve, that the cars you spot over there are just so much more interesting than those you spot where I live, in the West Midlands. I’ve arranged the spots into collections based on manufacturer, and have, of course, redacted the number plates. Hopefully you will find these spots as interesting as I did (although some are probably a bit regular, but excited me nonetheless). Perhaps you’ll also see why I use press photos in my reviews and articles than taking photos myself!

Aston Martin

DB9 Convertible (a fellow Brit!)

DB9 Coupé (this one was British registered but left-hand drive).

DB11 Coupé (V8, I think or maybe V12)

Bentley

A bit of context here – whilst we did see the Bentayga and the older Continental Convertible out ‘in the wild’, the other cars were part of a display in Quinta do Lago shopping, and the salesperson was kind enough to let us sit in and have a look.

Bentayga (another Brit)

Continental Convertible

(L-R) Continental GTC Speed Cabriolet, Flying Spur, Continental GT S, the steering wheel of another Continental. I think the four cars had a combined value of around 2.000.000€

BMW

i8 Roadster

Citroën

E-Méhari – this was the first one I’d ever seen, I didn’t even know they existed!

Ami

Ferrari

SF90 Stradale

Ford

F-150 Raptor – British-registered, but an American import.

Hummer

H2 Pickup

Jaguar

XK120 – This one was French, but apparently there are only 7 of these left in the UK!

Jeep

Wrangler (JK-generation)

(Modified) Wrangler

Lamborghini

Urus – Perhaps the most interesting thing about this car was the numberplate (British), which was only two digits, and rear (yellow) plate was tinted. Definitely pricey, although, when I checked the plate online, the DVLA said it was registered to a blue Ferrari…

Land Rover

Perhaps not as exciting as some of the other spots, but as a Brit, I can’t help but love them.

Defender 110 Explorer Pack

Defender 110 (with a black exterior pack)

(New) Range Rover

Lynk & Co

I had never seen one of these until we got to the port in Spain, at which point I came across hundreds of them all lined up, waiting to be shipped.

Lynk & Co 01

Mercedes

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance

G63 AMG

Porsche

 911 992 Turbo S Cabriolet

911 992 Cabriolet

911 991 Cabriolet

Toyota

I thought this was definitely worth a photo because of its rarity, but had to capture it in a moving car, hence the quality.

FJ40 Land Cruiser

And last but not least, Volkswagen

MK2 Golf

Which of my spotted cars were your favourite?
