Audi Q8 e-tron Launched In India

You can have it in SUV and Sportback forms.

Audi India has launched the Q8 e-tron range. It is available in two ‘55’ derivatives and two ‘50’, in SUV and Sportback forms. Here’s the complete price list:

• Audi Q8 50 e-tron: INR 1.14 crore

• Audi Q8 50 Sportback e-tron: INR 1.18 crore

• Audi Q8 55 e-tron: INR 1.26 crore

• Audi Q8 55 Sportback e-tron: INR 1.30 crore

Propulsion for the Audi Q8 e-tron in ‘55’ spec comes from two electric motors, one on each axle. Jointly, they offer 402hp/664Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 200kmph. The powerplant is backed by a 114kWh battery, of which 106kWh is usable. Audi claims that the Q8 55 e-tron in SUV form can travel up to 582km before running out of juice. That figure jumps to 600km for the Sportback derivative, primarily because of its slightly slipperier silhouette.

Like in ‘55’ form, the ‘50’ variants of the Q8 e-tron have two electric motors, one on each axle. However, the total output is 335hp/664Nm. The slightly lesser oomph means the standard sprint takes a bit longer, 6 seconds to be exact, but the top speed is 200kmph. Here, the battery size is 95kWh, of which 89kWh is usable. That helps post a range of up to 491km (SUV) and up to 505km (Sportback).

The Audi Q8 e-tron supports AC (up to 22kW) and DC (up to 170kW in ‘55’ forms and 150kW in ‘50’ forms) charging. As per the automaker, the quickest the EV can replenish its battery from 10 to 80 per cent is in 30 minutes when plugged into a recommended DC charger.

The features list includes Digital Matrix LED headlights, four-zone automatic climate control, Park Assist with a 360-degree camera, connected-car features via the ‘myAudiConnect’ application and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, adaptive air suspension, Quattro all-wheel-drive, powered front seats with memory function and ambient lighting.

Audi India offers the Q8 e-tron in nine colours, including Soneira Red, Plasma Blue, and Mythos Black. Buyers can also choose among three interior themes – Okapi Brown, Pearl Beige and Black.

The Audi Q8 e-tron competes with the BMW iX and the Jaguar I-Pace in India. And while the Mercedes’ EQC isn’t on sale anymore, the EQB remains a considerably less-expensive option for EV seekers.
