Vacheron Constantin has unveiled a new version of the Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024.

Vacheron Constantin has a legacy of classic watchmaking that harks back to the 1950’s. The Patrimony collection, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, continues this decades long legacy with the launch of the Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date with a new vintage-inspired dial and a new strap. It is available in an 18K white gold case.

Functions and Dial

The Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date’s functions:

– Hours and Minutes.

– A precision moon-phase between the centre of the dial and 6 o’clock. It corresponds to the moon’s cycle of 29 days, 12 hours, and 45 minutes, and requires a correction once every 122 years.

– A retrograde date display forming an arc from near 9 o’clock to near 3 o’clock. A horological theatre unfolds each time the date pointer instantly jumps from 31 back to 1 without depleting the calibre’s 40-hours power reserve. Retrograde functions are a hallmark of Vacheron Constantin.

– Stop seconds device.

It features the Patrimony family’s signature convex dial. The dial is old-silver-toned with a sunburst finish. The hours and minutes hands, 12 applied hour markers, and 48 applied polished gold ‘pearls’ minutes track that encircle the outer dial – are all crafted in 18K 5N pink gold.

Calibre

The Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date is powered by in-house mechanical self-winding calibre 2460 R31L. It has a diameter of 27.2 mm and a thickness of 5.4 mm. It comprises of 275 components, has 27 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour or 4 Hz, and has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Its open worked 18K gold self-winding rotor features the Maltese cross, the emblem of Vacheron Constantin. Visible through a sapphire caseback, Calibre 2460 R31L and the entire timepiece are hallmarked by the Poinçon de Genèva or Geneva Seal.

Case, Strap and Buckle

The Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date’s case is crafted in 18K white gold. It has a case diameter of 42.5 mm and a case thickness of 9.7 mm. It is water resistant up to 3 Bar.

It comes with an olive-green Mississippiensis alligator leather strap with a calf inner shell, tone-on-tone stitching and square scales, and a polished 18K white gold pin buckle shaped as a half Maltese cross.
