Over 27,000 Attended Icons Of Porsche 2023

The two-day gathering of Porsche enthusiasts also set a Guinness World Record.

A lot happened over the two days reserved for Icons of Porsche on the weekend that went by. To begin with, it was attended by more than 27,000 people – a record crowd for the third edition of the largest classic car gathering in the Middle East. That number is at least 12,000 more than the previous year’s. And in the first edition, the footfall recorded was 7,000. So, quite a growth in three years.

One aspect that must have played a part in such a big attendance was that the 911 turned 60 this year. Also, the event commemorated 75 years of Porsche sports cars. Besides those milestones, the Icons of Porsche 2023 also hosted the first public display of the all-new Panamera and a unique Sonderwunsch 911 Turbo, paying tribute to the first 911 Turbo prototype. Other attractions included the Mission X hypercar concept, the 911 S/T, several other classics from the Porsche Museum collection and regional premieres of the 718 Spyder RS and Vision 357 Speedster concept.

Atop all the Porsche models and enthusiasts was an inflatable Porsche 911 coupe in red. Measuring almost 20 metres in length, over 6 metres in height and more than eight metres in width, the massive Porsche-shaped balloon was of the first-gen F-Series 911, which was in production for ten years from 1963 to 1973. The inflatable Porsche was so large that it towered above the Dubai Design District and was visible for miles. In fact, the Guinness World Record people certified it as the world’s ‘Largest Inflatable Vehicle’.

Visitors at Icons of Porsche 2023 also had eight festival zones to entertain themselves. They were – 60 Years of 911, Esports Arena, The Pit Lane, The Boulevard, Mission X, Porsche Museum heritage truck, Art Beach and the new Panamera cube.
