Cadillac Arabia honours Cadillac’s 120th anniversary with a special docu-series

The video package features reputed car collectors and elements that make the brand special

Most carmakers like celebrating anniversaries by launching exclusive limited-edition cars as a present to themselves. Koenigsegg was the latest carmaker to do the same with the 1385hp CC850 hypercar. But Cadillac, celebrating 120 years as the signature American luxury brand, has planned a different kind of commemoration. Cadillac Arabia will honour the 120th-anniversary occasion with an “Iconic then, Iconic now” campaign featuring a docu-series showcasing the classic car heritage in the Middle East.

Kristian Aquilina, Managing Director for Cadillac International and Cadillac Middle East, said: “Cadillac has been present in the region for over nine decades. Over these years, we’ve brought to this market that we call home, iconic nameplates, many of which were granted key regional accolades, and have continuously set new benchmarks. In recognition to its long tenure and journey in the Middle East, we wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the brand, which was iconic then, is iconic now, and will always be.”

The docu-series titled ‘Garage Gems’, kickstarted earlier this month, features a series of reputed Cadillac classic car owners from the Middle East. The episodes explore classic Cadillac owners like car collectors Tariq Al Hajeri and Yousif Abdulrazzaq. While the former is a reputed collector in possession of three classic Cadillacs – two 1966 Coupe Deville and a 1954 Coupe Deville, the latter owns a 1966 Sedan Deville and a 1951 Series 62.

When asked what he loves most about Cadillac, Yousif responded, “I could go on for days describing what I love about them! I love the fact that the variety of different luxury and elegant options made Cadillac ahead of its time back in the 60s. The 66 Cadillac body lines, design, and handling makes it my favorite of all time. I look forward to adding a 1949 Cadillac Fastback and a Cadillac from the modern lineup to my collection in the near future, preferably a CT5-V Blackwing!”

The campaign will further take the viewers through the evolution of the American brand’s classic gems. Cadillac boasts a number of firsts in its 120-year-history, comprising the passenger car with a fully enclosed cabin in 1910 and the first production car to feature an electronic self-starter, ignition, and lighting in 1912, among others. And now, taking inspiration from its inventive roots, the brand is underway to revolutionise the future of autonomous and luxurious vehicles with its recent EV launches. The Lyriq EV boasts forthcoming luxury standards, and the Celestiq show car represents the future of Cadillac design.
