Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) has opened a new boutique “at the prestigious” Solitaire Mall, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Solitaire Mall is “Riyadh’s latest luxury and lifestyle shopping destination, marking the Maison’s continued growth in the Middle East.”
JLC, based in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland, is known as The Watchmaker of Watchmakers™.
Key Features
Vallée de Joux Design Inspiration
“The new boutique evokes the spirit of innovation and watchmaking expertise rooted in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland – home to the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. Offering a warm and inviting atmosphere, the boutique welcomes guests into an environment that connects them with the Manufacture. Through a harmonious blend of organic materials and natural colours, the decor seamlessly merges tradition with modernity, evoking the serenity and beauty of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s home in Le Sentier.”
Display of JLC’s Full Range of Watches
“Visitors are invited to delve into the intricacies of watchmaking with a captivating presentation showcasing exclusive collections and timepieces including the timeless icon Reverso, the adventurous spirit of Polaris or the refined sophistication of Rendez-Vous. The Master Ultra-Thin and Master Control series highlight Jaeger-LeCoultre’s expertise in creating elegant, ultra-precise calibres, while the Duometre and Master Grande Tradition showcase the Manufacture’s ground-breaking innovations in high complications. Additionally, clients can discover Jaeger-LeCoultre’s perpetual clock, the Atmos, a masterpiece of horological engineering, that stands as a symbol of the Maison’s technical ingenuity and design. This exceptional array of timepieces embodies the spirit of La Grande Maison, where artistry and technical mastery converge.”
Interactive Calibre Display
“An interactive Calibre Wall displays some of the most emblematic calibres that underline La Grande Maison’s authority as the ‘Watchmaker of Watchmakers™.’ Drawn from more than 1,400 calibres created to date, the physical calibres are arranged according to four fields of expertise: Precision, Chiming, Functional and Thin & Small. A touch-screen invites visitors to choose among fascinating videos from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s “Behind the Calibres” series, taking them deep inside the design and history of key movements.”
Personalisation
“A Personalisation Wall inspires clients to create a bespoke expression of their style by customising their timepieces. An interactive Strap Bar invites them to experiment with Jaeger-LeCoultre’s complete strap collection for all models and discover their own perfect pairing of watch case with strap material, colour, and stitching. The power of personalisation is taken further with a display of engraved and lacquered Reverso casebacks that provide inspiration for owners of Monoface Reverso models who may wish to add a personal emblem in engraving, lacquer, or enamel.”
VIP Room
“Further into the boutique, visitors will find a VIP room especially designed to offer a refined and private experience to collectors and special clients where they can explore Jaeger-LeCoultre’s story.”
Our Thoughts
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique in Riyadh is similar in concept to the brand’s Dubai flagship boutique opened in Dubai Mall last December. During the past few years, several global watch brands have begun to adopt a global boutique-only policy, either owned by them or in collaboration with a local authorised dealer. (Few brands have even shunned their authorised dealers to obtain greater control over distribution). JLC, part of the Richemont Group, is focused on opening global boutiques along with its sister brands such as A. Lange & Söhne and Vacheron Constantin.
As watch brands become increasingly global, and watch collectors and enthusiasts become a great deal more knowledgeable (in part because of internet and social media), it is not enough for a brand of JLC’s stature to simply have an excellent product. They need a proper environment to showcase their creations along with superb well-trained sales staff. Their boutiques must be a microcosm of the brand’s home, which in the case of JLC is the Vallée de Joux. Collectors, both new and existing, must be convinced. Replicating this boutique strategy worldwide is expensive and not easy. But the benefits are tremendous. A new customer is not just buying a watch from JLC. He or she is beginning an enduring relationship with them. The customer becomes a part of JLC’s universe, and JLC becomes a part of the customer’s watch collecting life.
JLC’s new boutique at the Solitaire Mall in Riyadh aims to achieve all this and more with local and international collectors, and we wish them all the best.
