Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils its new Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar with a midnight blue dial

A new version in a pink gold case with a midnight blue dial joins three other new versions, unveiled earlier this month during Watches and Wonders Geneva.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024: April 9th – April 15th, 2024.

Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC), referred to as The Watchmaker of Watchmakers™, unveiled its new Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar during Watches and Wonders Geneva, which was held during April 9th – April 15th, 2024. The three versions included:

Pink gold with eggshell dial.

Pink gold with diamonds and eggshell dial.

Steel with silver sunrayed dial.

Today, they removed the covers on a fourth version – Pink Gold with midnight blue gradient dial.

The Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar features the latest-generation high-performing mechanical self-winding manufacture calibre 868, that has a longer power reserve of 70 hours. Its perpetual calendar mechanism will not need any manual correction until the year 2100, a non-leap-year centenary. Its case and dials receive a “sophisticated aesthetic update.”

Dial

It features an intense midnight blue sunray-brushed dial. Its features include:

– Twelve hour-markers and JLC logo (just below moon phase display) applied on the dial.

– Circular golden dots-shaped minutes track encircles the outer dial.

– Polished and golden-finished hands. The hours and minutes hands are dauphine shaped.

– Moon phase display at 12 o’clock.

– Day of the week subdial at 9 o’clock.

– Date subdial at 3 o’clock.

– Months subdial at 6 o’clock.

– All three subdials feature an opaline finish on the outside and azure finish on the inside. Azure finish is “ultra-fine engraving in perfectly regular, concentric circles.”

– Security zone aperture on the top portion of the centre of the dial,

– Year displayed in 4-digits between 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock.

Functions 

Its functions are hours, minutes, seconds, perpetual calendar functions (day of the week, date, month, year), red security zone (turns red during a certain time of day when the time and perpetual calendar function should not be adjusted to prevent damaging the delicate mechanism) and moon phase display. Corrector for calendar functions is located on the side of the case at 8 o’clock. 

Calibre

It is powered by mechanical self-winding manufacture calibre 868. It has a diameter of 26 mm and a thickness of 4.72 mm, features 1 barrel, and gets a longer power reserve of 70 hours. It comprises of 330 components, has 46 jewels, and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Calibre 868 is visible via a sapphire crystal caseback. 

Case

Its case is crafted in 18K pink gold. It has a case diameter of 39 mm and a case thickness of 9.2 mm. It features a sapphire crystal on both the dial and caseback side. It has a water resistance of 5 bar. It comes with a blue alligator leather strap, that is interchangeable, and an 18K pink gold pin buckle.
