What is the new Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges?
It combines Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato case, Three Bridges, and an all-new skeletonised automatic tourbillon movement developed especially for this model. The Laureato is the brand’s versatile luxury watch that celebrated its 50th anniversary last year; hence the “Fifty” in the name. The bridges are a signature design element of the brand since 1867 and will celebrate its 160th anniversary next year.
It is the third interpretation of this model. The first two were unveiled during Dubai Watch Week in November last year. They included the Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges, a 50-piece limited edition, to celebrate the Laureato’s 50th anniversary, and the Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges, a non-limited reference with 32 baguette-cut diamonds set on the bezel. Both references differ from the present release by featuring the Three Bridges made from white gold.
The calibre GP9620 that powers this watch is among the brand’s four all-new manufacture movement unveiled in a span of twelve months. The other three movements include GP4800, the brand’s next generation of automatic movements; GP9530, an open-worked minute repeater with a tourbillon movement; and GP8410, a tourbillon movement with a micro-rotor. We covered all, links below:

What are its movement features?

It is powered by calibre GP09620-2856, a skeletonised tourbillon automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds on the tourbillon. It measures 32 mm or 14 ¼ lignes (diameter) * 6.90 mm (thickness), comprises 303 parts and 33 jewels, beats at a luxurious frequency of 3 Hz or 21,600 vph, and delivers a power reserve of 55 hours (minimum) delivered via a single barrel.
What do we think?

With the new Laureato Fifty Three Gold Bridges, Girard-Perregaux continues to honour a horological icon, one that exhibits the brand’s mastery of grand complications. A handful of watch brands boast a versatile luxury watch featuring a tourbillon. Audemars Piguet has a few references of the Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon, and Vacheron Constantin has a few references of the Overseas Tourbillon, the deep red dial and titanium case reference that we covered earlier this year.
The past year has been nothing less than a horological renaissance for the brand. I am excited to see them continue to enhance their catalogue.
