Bentayga EWB Mulliner Is Bentley’s New Flagship
Buyers get to choose from nearly 4,000 tri-tone interior themes.
The only present-day Bentley that didn’t have a Mulliner derivative has finally given in. Enter the Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner. For the British marque, it is the new flagship. For RFs (regular folks) like us, any Bentley with a Mulliner badge in the mix means luxury and comfort taken to the max and some.
If you’re wondering, the acronym EWB is Extended Wheelbase. That means the personnel at the Mulliner division got the roomiest Bentayga to play with and pamper. But here, the need for sumptuous comfort trumps everything. So, besides the eight curated tri-tone colour combinations for the interior, which can be further specified by the owners (from nearly 4,000 combos), the cabin features Olive Tan leather upholstery and sustainable carpets made from pure wool or recycled nylon. Accompanying those are Grand Black veneer trim elements and Harmony Diamond Quilt patterns on the seat uppers.
You can have a 4-seat or a 4+1-seat configuration for the Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner. The standout feature is the Bentley Airline Seat specification, a standard fit in the new variant. It ropes in 22-way seat adjustments, an auto climate sensing system and postural adjustment technology. So, based on the mode selected, the seats move about automatically to keep the occupants comfortable.
Another highlight indoors is the Bentley Diamond Illumination, an optional extra for other models but part of the default kit in the Bentayga EQB Mulliner. As the name suggests, LEDs (12 on each front door, 22 on each rear door) are hidden behind the perforated leather. The lights can be controlled via the infotainment system and Touch Screen Remote.
On the outside, bespoke Mulliner 22-inch wheels in polished or grey painted, with self-levelling caps, demand attention. And so does the “Double Diamond” front grille. Opting for the Mulliner Blackline Specification darkens out all the chrome-y bits, excluding the Bentley badges.
Powering the Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner is the tried-and-tested twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that pumps out 542hp/770Nm. That’s enough for the high-riding road-going luxury yacht to hit 100kmph from nothing in 4.6 seconds and clock 290kmph flat out. The SUV also packs an electronic all-wheel-steering system and the Bentley Dynamic Ride.
So, how would you rate Mulliner’s work here?
