Volvo promotes sustainability with a new sneaker and social media campaign launch

The sneaker draws design inspirations from the XC40 Recharge’s developments

Swedish carmaker Volvo celebrated World Car-Free Day with the global launch of a limited-edition sneaker. The footwear was made in collaboration with sustainable footwear company Casca to emphasise the carmaker’s commitment towards sustainability further.

Sustainable influences from the XC40 Recharge get woven into the sneaker’s development process. The carmaker further claims the use of sustainable materials in the EV crossover served as the perfect muse for Casca, inspiring the sneaker’s design.

Al-Futtaim’s Trading Enterprises, the official representative of Volvo Cars in the UAE, further announced a social media initiative called ‘Walk The Talk’ with the footwear firm. Anyone can participate in this global initiative by sharing their “Walk A Mile” stories on Volvo Cars’ official Instagram page. The winner with the best story stands a chance to win exclusive Casca shoes and a drive experience in the XC40 Recharge. One can follow up on the details of the competition by clicking here.

Speaking on the campaign launch, Oscar Rivoli, Managing Director at Trading Enterprises, said, “The launch of global initiatives like ‘Walk The Talk’ and the partnership with Casca footwear endorses Volvo Cars’ commitment to incorporate sustainability in mobility and transform the sector across the region. Protecting the environment remains our priority as we espouse Al-Futtaim’s sustainability strategy with a focus on constantly enriching the lives of our customers”.

The Volvo UAE division plans to stay aligned with UAE’s sustainability measures, including the strategic initiative – UAE Net Zero by 2050. The global brand itself aims to be a carbon-neutral firm by 2040.
