Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. Tiguan, an all-electric midsize SUV that is expected to launch in early 2027. The model will replace the ID.4 and ID.5, which have combined production of more than 950,000 units. It will compete with petrol, diesel, and hybrid Tiguan models in Volkswagen’s European lineup.
Tiguan will have a refreshed exterior design, a revised interior, new driver-assistance systems, and additional cargo capacity. The model will be available in three powertrain variants.

Which powertrain configurations will the ID. Tiguan offer?
Three variants of the ID. Tiguan, with varying power outputs, battery sizes, and drivetrains.
The first variant will deliver 188 BHP and will have a 58 kWh battery with rear-wheel drive. The second variant will deliver 282 BHP and will have a 77 kWh battery with rear-wheel drive. The top-of-the-line variant will produce 295 BHP and will come with a 77 kWh battery and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Depending on the variant chosen, the SUV’s maximum WLTP driving range is claimed to be 600 km. Volkswagen has not yet released specific range details for each variant.
The car will feature one-pedal driving, letting the driver use only the accelerator to accelerate and slow down.

How much boot space and towing capacity does it have?
The SUV seats five passengers and offers up to 534 litres of luggage capacity. It also has a front storage compartment with 32 litres of storage space.
Towing capacity varies by battery pack option. Vehicles with 58 kWh battery packs can tow up to 1,800 kg, while those with 77 kWh battery packs can tow up to 2,000 kg.
There will be four equipment variants: Trend, Life, Style, and R-Line. Equipment and design specifics will depend on the chosen variant and market.

What are the main interior and display features?
The car will offer a completely new dashboard design featuring three digital displays. This includes a 10-inch instrument cluster, 15-inch central infotainment display, and 12-inch passenger display.
The passenger display supports entertainment, information, and games. A privacy mode restricts visibility from the driver’s seat, and Bluetooth headphones let you listen to audio independently.
One more interesting feature is a retro-style instrument display inspired by the fourth-generation Volkswagen Golf. You can activate this display via the multifunction steering wheel. Instead of a rev counter, there is an electric drivetrain energy flow counter.
The infotainment screen can also show a virtual garage with six Volkswagen models: Golf I, Golf IV, Tiguan I, and Beetle.

What convenience and driver assistance features are provided?
The German manufacturer has returned physical buttons for some frequently used functions. Climate control is available via a dedicated button bar, and you can adjust audio settings with a controller on the centre console. The steering wheel also has physical buttons.
Two Qi2-compatible wireless charging pads feature an integrated magnetic system for charging compatible smartphones. The Digital Key system lets owners lock, unlock, and start the vehicle with a compatible smartphone and share digital access via the Volkswagen app.
Connected Travel Assist helps the driver on motorways by providing some assistance in making a change of lane. Connected Travel Assist’s traffic-light recognition feature brings the vehicle to a halt at red lights when conditions allow.
Optional equipment includes electrically adjustable front seats with massage, memory, and ventilation functions; a panoramic roof; a 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system; and a vehicle-to-load adaptor to power external devices.

When is the VW ID. Tiguan set for release? What is its price?
Preliminary sales of the Volkswagen ID. Tiguan is set for 13 October 2026 in Germany and several other European countries. The starting price is €42,695, which is about $47,850 at an example exchange rate of €1 = $1.1206.
The model should hit the market in early 2027, and its price will vary by trim, battery size, and powertrain configuration.
