This Pininfarina Is Called The B95

Just ten examples will be made.

At this year’s Monterey Car Week, Automobili Pininfarina took the wraps off its latest creation – the B95. The ‘B’ in the name is for ‘Barchetta’, a term the Italians have used for their open-top two-door, two-seater sports cars for about 75 years. And the ‘95’ refers to the 95th anniversary that Pininfarina SpA will complete in 2025. That’s when examples of the car you see here start reaching the gleaming garages of their wealthy owners.

The electric hypercar with no glasshouse follows the ‘Barchetta’ design characteristics. Those are infused with the brand’s PURA design language, as the B95 has a full-width enveloping bodywork. A loop incorporates the seats, two aero screens and the domes behind the passengers. Those aero screens are electrically adjustable and are made of transparent polycarbonate and exposed aluminium supports. Pininfarina will even provide B95 owners with helmets that match their B95 specifications (an optional extra). And the car rides on forged aluminium wheels measuring 20 inches and 21 inches in diameter at the front and rear, respectively.

Like the exterior, the interior is simple, sharp and striking. And no points for guessing; it is taken directly from the Battista hyper GT. The carbon-fibre dashboard houses two displays on either side of the multi-function steering wheel. Behind it is a third screen, which primarily displays the speed. And the driver selector sprouting out towards the driver from the centre console adds to the sporty character of the B95.

The Pininfarina B95 packs the same powertrain as its fixed-top sibling Battista. That means four electric motors, one for each wheel, jointly outputting 1,877hp/2,340Nm. That’s enough for a sub-2 second 0-100kmph sprint time and a top speed north of 300kmph. The powerplant gets its juices from a 120kWh lithium-ion battery, which can take DC feeds of up to 270kW. Pininfarina claims that using a recommended fast charger, the B95 can replenish its battery from 20 to 80 per cent in 25 minutes.

Automobili Pininfarina will make only ten examples of the B95, each curated to individual owner specifications. That means no two specimens will be the same to behold. And how much will it cost? The B95 will start at EUR 4.4 million.
