The Bentley Blower Jnr Will Turn Heads And Drop Jaws

The Little Car Company helped reincarnate an icon from 1929.

Even Bentley purists would struggle to tell you that although the car pictured here looks like a Blower, it isn’t quite the same. And they’d be correct. It isn’t. Sort of. It’s called the Bentley Blower Jnr, a reincarnation created by The Little Car Company of the 1929 Bentley Blower. The ‘Jnr’, which I think is short for ‘Junior’, denotes that the new creation is 85 per cent the size of the original 4½-litre Supercharged Team Car No. 2 in Bentley’s Heritage Collection. But there’s no supercharger here. In fact, there’s nothing that burns fossil fuel. The Bentley Blower Jnr is an EV.

The Bentley Blower Jnr measures just over 3.7 metres in length, nearly 1.5 metres in width and less than 1.3 metres in height. It has space for two, where the passenger sits behind the driver. The bodywork is a blend of carbon fibre and aluminium, with almost no creature comforts. It packs two three-point seatbelts, a hidden USB phone charger and an adjustable driver’s seat. As a result, the car tips the scale at approximately 550kg.

In case you’re wondering, that supercharger housing actually hides the charging port for the Bentley Blower Jnr. From there, the owner can replenish the onboard 10.8kWh battery, which feeds the 48-volt powertrain. The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle, offering a maximum of 20hp. That output is reserved for Sport drive mode. The other modes – Comfort and Bentley – peg the power output to 3hp and 11hp, respectively.

Performance? The sprint to 0-100kmph is not possible because the maximum it can clock is 72kmph. And that too in the UK and EU. The only other market the Bentley Blower Jnr is road-legal is the USA, where, for some boring reasons, the top speed is limited to 40kmph. Range, you ask? That’s around 105km. As for the charging wait time, that can be anything between 3-5 hours.

Those who get one of the first 99 examples will get a First Edition Model. Besides boasting First Edition badging on the bonnet, door sill plate and dash, the First Edition Model will have engraved and numbered ‘1 of 99’ plaque. The exterior paint, chassis and wheels will be finished in Blower Green shade, while the sides of the EV will feature hand-painted Union flags. Also, the side panel and radiator will carry the period-correct racing number. Rounding off the special treatment is the Dark Green Hide upholstery indoors, the same used by Mulliner for the Blower Continuation Series, and a rope-bound steering wheel.

The Bentley Blower Jnr made its world premiere at this year’s Monterey Car Week. The production is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2024 with the 99 First Edition Models.
