SoleDXB to feature exclusive apparel and sneaker collection
Multiple global brands such as Crocs, New Balance and Sonra collaborate with the event
While shopping festivals and New Year celebrations comprise the most popular reasons to visit Dubai in December, the upcoming SoleDXB culture festival may add another feather to this tourist-attracting cap. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the SoleDXB festival, and a musician-heavy line-up starring Jorja Smith and Rapsody entails the organisers aim to put out an extravagant event. And adding to the list of attractions are a host of collaborations with legendary designers, leading fashion houses and sports brands to provide the ultimate culture festival experience.
Streetwear has been SoleDXB’s core touchpoint. Hence, this 10th edition will feature the first-ever apparel collection by event host Hassan Hajjaj called Andy Wahloo, along with limited merchandise featuring Jorja Smith. The event will also see global brands put up pop–up experience stores as well as a limited-edition sneaker collection exclusive to the SoleDXB event.
Hikmet Sugoer, the man behind the Berlin-born, sustainable sneaker brand Sonra, considered the OG in the sneaker world, will be releasing 100-unit-only leather sneakers to celebrate ten years of SoleDBX. It would come finished in a special pastel and sunset colour palette inspired by Marrakesh, made with sustainable materials and replaceable laces and soles. The ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar has its effects trickled down to Dubai, with Kappa announcing a partnership with SoleDXB to create a limited edition football kit collection. Available exclusively at the event, the kit will feature jerseys, shorts, and tracksuits to commemorate the football championship and the festival’s first-ever community football cup, which will take place on-site throughout the weekend.
More popular brands, such as Crocs and New Balance, have declared their attendance at the event. The former will host the new Salehe Collection and conduct a personalisation section to allow customers to personalise the iconic Classic Clogs designed by a local artist. New Balance will drop some of its latest collabs and Made In The US collections, including the much anticipated Made 990v6, Joe Freshgoods 993, Salehe 990v2 among others. 1886, the Saudi brand that brought streetwear to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time will also put up a stall to present the Unity collection, a capsule drop made exclusively for Qatar World Cup and available only at SoleDXB.
The apparel section will feature Hassan Hajjaj’s Andy Wahloo brand bringing a collection of t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, pants, leather jackets, and varsity jackets inspired by the artist’s riad in Morocco. Also available is a 90s-style vintage R&B and hip-hop-styled collection of t-shirts under Jorja Smith’s banner. Only 200 t-shirts will be sold, making it a true SoleDXB memorabilia. Another brand showcasing a creative fusion is Wild Arab West (WAW), a platform launched by two Emiratis women to highlight the cultural fusion between East and West via art, lifestyle and entertainment.
Virgin Megastore Bookstore will also be popping up at Sole DXB, bringing its hero brand MONTANA Colors with their spray cans & markers for graffiti enthusiasts and lining up a coffee table book launch. Titles such as Ice Cold A Hip-Hop Jewelry History by Vikki Tobak and She Kicks by Nav Gill, and the authors will be making an appearance at the event.
