Skoda has revealed the new Peaq, an all-electric SUV intended to become the flagship model in the brand’s electric vehicle range.
Making its debut in the large SUV class, the Peaq can carry up to seven passengers and has a maximum driving range of over 640 km. The new model will introduce innovations to the brand’s lineup, including flush door handles, a panoramic glass roof with Dynamic Shade Control, and a vertical infotainment screen. The Peaq is the largest electric car in the Skoda range.
Why Is the Skoda Peaq the Largest SUV Produced by the Company?
At 4.87 metres long and with a wheelbase close to 3 metres, the Peaq is the largest SUV the brand offers at the moment. Thus, it offers an extensive cabin that comfortably accommodates up to seven people. As a five-seater, the car offers up to 935 litres of luggage space, the largest among Skodas. Additionally, there is a 37-litre storage compartment under the hood. Peaq is seen as an electric variant of the Kodiaq; however, it is significantly bigger inside and outside.
The exterior uses Skoda’s Modern Solid design approach, emphasising sleek surfaces and minimalist styling elements. Both the front and rear lighting use Skoda’s T-shaped lighting signature, and the vehicle features various aerodynamic features to achieve a drag coefficient of 0.249. Flush door handles used for the first time in a production Skoda also play a part in the styling and aerodynamics of the Peaq. For the first time in a production model, Skoda includes a panoramic roof with Dynamic Shade Control, allowing passengers to control the level of light entering the car through the roof without using a sunroof.
How Has the Interior Emphasised Comfort and Practicality?
The car’s interior is specially designed for passenger comfort and practicality, especially for long trips. Up to seven seats are offered with some additional comfort features included in the optional Relax Package. Such features include ventilated seats with a massage function, ergonomically designed leg rests, and the ability to use a well-being application available in the car.
What Are the Battery and Powertrain Options?
Two battery capacities are offered: 63 kWh and 91 kWh. According to official data, the latter is the largest battery ever used in a Skoda electric car. Three different powertrains with power outputs ranging from 201 BHP to 295 BHP are offered. Rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions are also available, depending on the car.
The Peaq model boasts a driving range of more than 640 kilometres, along with numerous technological advancements to enhance efficiency and convenience.
What Driver Assistance and Safety Systems Does the Skoda Peaq Have?
The Skoda has equipped its Peaq model with a comprehensive set of driver-assistance and safety systems. The following systems are included as standard equipment: Front Assist, Crossroad Assist, Turn Assist, and Side Assist. However, buyers can install advanced technologies, including Travel Assist 3.0 (the latest version of Skoda’s semi-automatic driving system) and Top Area View 360° (a transparent 3D visualisation of the vehicle). Also, Intelligent Park Assist helps drivers in parking.
