Skoda Unveils 2026 Epiq Electric SUV With 440 km Range

The 2026 Skoda Epiq is an electric SUV from the Czech automaker based on the new MEB+ platform, boasting up to 440 kilometres of driving range.

Skoda has unveiled the 2026 Epiq, its new entry-level electric SUV. Designed as a smaller alternative to the Enyaq and Elroq electric cars, the Epiq expands Skoda’s portfolio of battery-electric vehicles while aiming to attract customers who want a more compact, less expensive EV. Based on the new-gen MEB+ platform by the Volkswagen Group, the Epiq will become Skoda’s first mass-produced car to feature the brand’s Modern Solid design concept.

On what platform and with what powertrain is the Skoda Epiq based?

The Epiq comes with the MEB+ electric vehicle platform, which is the latest iteration of the Volkswagen Group’s modular EV platform optimised for compact electric vehicles. Unlike other large rear-wheel-drive MEB vehicles, the Epiq utilises a front-wheel-drive setup.

According to Skoda, the main characteristics of this platform are lightweight and efficiency. The vehicle will have two battery capacities and three powertrain versions, but precise specifications remain undisclosed. A maximum range of approximately 440 km is claimed by Skoda.

The car will be equipped with 11 kW AC charging and DC fast charging, achieving 80% from 10% in around 24 minutes. Bidirectional charging is also possible with Epiq, enabling the stored energy in the battery to be transferred to other devices or even returned to homes or grids.

Is the Epiq practical for everyday driving?

Although the Epiq is a small car, emphasis has been placed on spaciousness and storage options. It has a large cargo capacity of 475 litres.

Other storage spaces inside the vehicle include a 25-litre front storage space or “frunk,” which will be available at a later stage in production.

In terms of the interior, the dashboard will have a clean layout focused on usability. Robust materials, hard controls, and Skoda’s “Simply Clever” storage will continue to feature.

What are the changes brought by the new design language?

The Epiq is the first production Skoda model to embrace Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. Its exterior features more streamlined surfaces and sharper details than other models.

Some styling highlights include the gloss-black “Tech-Deck Face” front end and a new T-shape lighting signature, set to be used in all future Skoda SUVs. Some aerodynamic improvements result in a drag coefficient of 0.275.

Which safety and technological features does it have?

Some of the driver assistance systems included in the Skoda Epiq include Front Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. There are also optional Travel Assist 3.0 systems for assisted driving.

Standard safety equipment features include seven airbags, including a centre airbag between the two front passengers.

As for the car’s technological features, they include a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen with an Android-based operating system. The latter allows for connecting services, integrating apps, and controlling the vehicle remotely through the MySkoda smartphone application.

What are the launch and availability details?

The Czech automaker has already announced that the Epiq will be part of its growing electric vehicle lineup, alongside the upcoming Peaq crossover. Furthermore, a special “First Edition” version of the car is set to be launched right after the initial debut, offering extra equipment and the most powerful powertrain.

The official price list has yet to be released; however, Skoda claims the car is designed to compete with the Kamiq on price in some European countries. Technical data, including horsepower and price in USD, will be revealed in late 2026.
