RM Sotheby’s lists three spectacular Skylines for sale

One of them is the only R32 Skyline to win a domestic 24hr endurance race

Luxury auction house RM Sotheby’s lists its upcoming Monterey auction event as its flagship sale. Only the best or the most exclusive lots go under the hammer. One such example from Italy is a 1955 Ferrari 410 Sport Spider by Scaglietti, carrying the accolade of ‘best Ferrari ever built’ being given by the man Enzo Ferrari himself. And now, three exclusive offerings from the East announce their arrival.

It will be raining GT-Rs at the upcoming RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction as three Nissan R32 Skylines get listed for sale. The first of the three is a 1994 Nissan Skyline GT-R’ JGTCC-GT1’ with a racing pedigree. Hasemi Motorsport built this in partnership with NISMO for the 1994 Japan Grand Touring Car Championship.

This racing car is the only R32 Skyline to win a domestic 24hr endurance race, claiming victory at the inaugural 1994 24 Hours of Tokachi. The owner is said to have bought the race car directly from Hasemi Motorsport in 1996 and retains the red-and-white race livery along with the RB26DETT engine and Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission. RM Sotheby’s estimates it to fetch $500,000 or higher.

Not all enthusiasts can afford a stock race car, but they can afford a remarkably preserved R32 GT-R. Two of them are for sale, amongst which one is a 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R with fewer than 1,590kms on the odometer. It comes finished in a desirable Midnight Purple shade over a two-tone grey interior, featuring the famous 2.6-litre, twin-turbocharged RB26DETT inline six-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This particular model has received exceptional care from new while remaining ‘entirely stock’ and ‘as-delivered’. Certainly a tempting buy for dedicated R32 loyalists with a price tag estimated at $150,000 or above.

Impeccably maintained, all-stock cars can stretch the enthusiasts’ budget, which is where this 1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R fits the bill. Estimated to retail between $80,000-$100,000, this ’89 GT-R is one of the few Skylines to carry no major modification to the engine or its chassis. It continues to be powered by the 2.6-liter, twin-turbocharged RB26DETT inline six-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Pick your poison, or should I say, pick your Skyline!
