What is the new Panerai Luminor?
It is Panerai’s iconic Luminor, an early 1990s design, presented in a more compact 42 mm case size. It is available in three references: PAM01710 (matte black dial), PAM01711 (matte green dial) and PAM01714 (matte blue dial). Each is inspired by the brand’s Luminor Reference 5218-201/A and Luminor Marina Militare Reference 5218-202A which were unveiled on September 10th, 1993. This was the day when the brand’s watches were presented to a civilian public for the first time.

What do we think?

Watches from Panerai typically feature larger proportions, often intimidating sections of the watch collector community. Now at 42 mm, the Luminor will appeal to a broader section of enthusiasts and collectors who will find the new dimensions more practical and wearable.
The brand can create phenomenal watches, such as the Luminor 31 Giorni and Submersible GMT PAM01495. Yet the simplicity of the Luminor – only hours-minute-small seconds (not even date) – and an accessible price point, make it a compelling and versatile Panerai to own.
