Manhart Has Never Made A More Powerful Saloon Than This One

It’s limited to just five specimens.

In 2023, Manhart made some properly mean BMWs. The MH3 650 Touring, for example. The folks from Wuppertal also strolled down memory lane. They dished out and tuned two sumptuous specimens – the E30 M3 and the Alpina 2002 tii. Not even the diesel-fed 3 Series was spared. We’ve barely gotten into the groove for the new year, and the tuner is back with another spruced-up Bavarian creation. Meet the MH5 900 Limited 01/05 – the most powerful saloon Manhart has ever conceived. As the name suggests, only five units will be made.

The MH5 900 (leaving the limitedness out!) starts as the F90 BMW M5 Competition. Manhart gives the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 a turbo upgrade, a carbon intake and an intercooling system by Wagner Tuning. Also, a stainless steel exhaust system, with valve control and matt black 100mm tailpipe finishers, is added. Post an ECU remap, the output increases to a mammoth 928hp/1,240Nm. With the help of Carillo pistons and H-shaft connecting rods, the engine mechanics have been reinforced to tackle up to 1,200hp.

You’ve got to make it stand out, right? For that, Manhart introduced various carbon fibre elements, some improving aerodynamics while others bumping aesthetics. The list includes a front spoiler, radiator grille surround, two-part front apron insert, two canards on the front apron, air outlets on the bonnet, the side skirts, rear diffuser and multiple spoilers at the back. The M Performance carbon fibre ORVM caps have been kept untouched, while the car dons the copper décor with a deep blue body colour.

Filling up the wheel arches well are the 21-inch Manhart Concave One forged rims, accompanied by 275/30ZR rubber at the front and 295/30ZR tyres at the rear. And while the copper accents on the wheels are unmissable, the rim colour can be personalised. Suspension? Yes, that’s been tweaked as well. The MH5 900 features adjustable Manhart coilover springs by KW Suspensions by default. For an even more dynamic driving experience, the tuner can fit the go-fast car with its Variant 4 coilover suspension by KW Suspensions. That, of course, demands a premium.

The BMW M5 Competition’s standard carbon-ceramic solution has been kept unaltered. However, for that extra something, the brake callipers have been painted in the body colour with Manhart branding.

Complementing the carbon-infused exterior is an interior with the same material dominating the view from every angle. The seat shells, for instance, are made from carbon fibre. That tops up the carbon Manhart interior package ropes in. Apart from that, the headliner is made from soft Alcantara and matches the brown leather upholstery. Soft Manhart floor mats, Manhart Sky Roof and a Dataview display round off the interior upgrades.

So, what’s your take on the MH5 900?
