Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces the new Master Control Chronometre collection

• The collection presently includes three models encompassing five references. • It features a sleek new design with an integrated bracelet. • It debuts the High Precision Guarantee (HPG) Seal.

What is the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre collection?

For Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) introduced several new models; few of them impressive grand complications for which they are renowned. Their most notable unveil was the all-new Master Control Chronometre collection, a trio of three models encompassing five references that debut the High Precision Guarantee (HPG) Seal.

“The case and its fully integrated metal bracelet have been conceived and designed exclusively for the Master Control Chronometre collection, introducing a contemporary design language that reflects today’s aesthetic and functional expectations. In keeping with the technical rigour that underpins every Jaeger-LeCoultre innovation, the collection also introduces a new Jaeger-LeCoultre high-watchmaking seal, HPG or High Precision Guarantee.”

The three models are the Master Control Chronometre Date – presented in stainless steel and 18K pink gold, Master Control Chronometre Perpetual Calendar – presented in stainless steel and 18K pink gold and Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve – presented in stainless steel.

What is the new High Precision Guarantee seal?

The High Precision Guarantee or HPG Seal features stringent criteria that certifies the High Precision of the watch and its Aesthetic Finishes.

High Precision

The HPG Seal measure a watch’s performance against real-world daily-wear conditions of altitude, multi-directional shocks, positions and temperature.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre High Precision Guarantee Seal Diagram.
Image: “A sophisticated machine developed specifically for HPG subjects each timepiece to a comprehensive series of alternating cycles: periods of ‘stabilized rest’ mimic moments of repose, such as a watch resting on a bedside table, while ‘solicitation cycles’ recreate the dynamic challenges of daily wear. This comprehensive test unfolds over three days, simulating a full week’s experience. Two days are dedicated to replicating active weekdays, featuring alternating periods of fixed positions, multi-position movements, and shocks, followed by further fixed positions. The third day mirrors a reposeful weekend, with the timepiece remaining in a stable, fixed position, as if resting on a table.”

Altitude: the calibre itself is specifically undergoing atmospheric pressure variations simulating conditions from sea level up to 1,004 meters – the altitude of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Manufacture.

For the remaining elements, the evaluation is performed on the case-up watch:

Multi-directional shocks: the shocks endured typically range from 25G to 50G, applied across multiple standardized watch positions

Positions: the testing reproduces alternating periods of multi-positions and fixed positions.

Temperature: the testing involves significant temperature fluctuations, from a cool 18°C during simulated rest to a warmer 35°C during active phases.”

Aesthetic Finishes

The HPG Seal certifies a calibre’s eight decorative finishes. These include “circular graining, Côtes de Genève, circular smoothing, burnishing, polished screw-heads, linear smoothing, sinked rubies, and bevelling.”

Master Control Chronometre Date

Notice how “the minute track is subdivided to allow for time reading to the nearest quarter-of-a-second—the visual signature of a Chronometre-certified movement.” The date wheel is the same colour as the dial, an aesthetically pleasing and thoughtful design touch.

18 Pink gold version: Toffee brown sunray-brushed dial. Dauphine-shaped hands, numerals and hour-markers feature a polished rhodium-finish. 18K pink gold case measures 38 mm (diameter) * 8.4 mm (thickness). Dial and caseback feature sapphire crystals. Integrated three-row tapered bracelet made from 18K pink gold and fitted with an integrated double folding buckle. Water resistance up to 5 bar or approximately 50 metres.

Jaeger-LeCoultre-Master Control Chronometre Date Steel's Calibre 899.
Image: Calibre 899 that powers the Master Control Chronometre Date. “Underscoring this commitment to both form and function, the bridges are decorated with refined, subtly executed Côtes de Genève, perfectly aligned with those on the winding rotor. The bridges, notably around the balance cock, have been entirely reworked, adopting cleaner, more architectural lines that enhance both visual depth and legibility. All bridges are bevelled at 45 degrees and the jewels are sunk; for visual contrast, the golden wheels stand out against the bridges, while the silvery-grey-tone of the screws harmonises with the movement’s overall palette.”

Both versions are powered by Manufacture Calibre 899, an automatic movement that drives the central hours, minutes, seconds and date (at 3 o’clock). It measures 26.6 mm (diameter) * 3.3 mm (thickness), comprises 212 parts and 32 jewels, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of 70 hours from 1 barrel. COSC Chronometer Certified.

Master Control Chronometre Perpetual Calendar

Notice how slender the case is. “The three-row bracelet is beautifully conceived and finished, designed for maximum flexibility and comfort. On the central row of links, flat, vertical-satin-brushed surfaces alternate with highly polished links in the shape of triangular prisms.”

Stainless steel version: Blue-grey gradient sunray-brushed dial. Opaline and azuré finishes on the subdials. Dauphine-shaped hands, numerals and hour-markers feature a polished rhodium-finish. Stainless steel case measures 39 mm (diameter) * 9.2 mm (thickness). Dial and caseback feature sapphire crystals. Integrated three-row tapered bracelet made from stainless steel and fitted with an integrated double folding buckle. Water resistance up to 5 bar or approximately 50 metres.

Jaeger-LeCoultre-Master Control Chronometre Perpetual Calendar Pink Gold.

On the bracelet, the “sharp angles are echoed on the outer two rows of links, which feature dramatic V-shaped bevels, also highly polished to add contrast. Unifying the design of bracelet and dial, these angles draw inspiration from the form of the slim Dauphine hands and the matching, faceted shape of the applied indexes.”

18K pink gold version: Toffee brown sunray-brushed dial. Opaline and azuré finishes on the subdials. Dauphine-shaped hands, numerals and hour-markers feature a polished rhodium-finish. 18K pink gold case measures 39 mm (diameter) * 9.2 mm (thickness). Dial and caseback feature sapphire crystals. Integrated three-row tapered bracelet made from 18K pink gold and is fitted with an integrated double folding buckle. Water resistance up to 5 bar or approximately 50 metres.

Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve.
Image: Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve. Its dial design of two subdials at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock is a homage to the JLC’s Futurematic’s of 1951. Notice the aperture on the case at 4 o’clock to correct the date. This model is my personal favourite from this collection. For me, it is more interesting with its subdial placement and “a hint of complication” (the power reserve indicator) than the Date version. It is also priced close enough to the Date version in stainless steel.

Blue-grey gradient sunray-brushed dial. Azuré finish on the counters. Dauphine-shaped hands, numerals and hour-markers are rhodium-plated.

What do we think?

It is a big deal when a watchmaker of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s horological repute unveils an all-new collection. Even more so when the collection also debuts an all-new seal. I was fortunate to handle the Master Control Chronometre models in Geneva. They are slender, wear well on the wrist, and do not draw much attention. Even the 18K pink gold versions draw less attention than comparable gold models from other brands, perhaps because of the overall design and toffee brown dial. For me, these are IYKYN kinds of watches (if you know you know).

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve.
Image: Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve. This would be the ideal daily-wear watch for me.

For a watch collector seeking a prestigious under-the-radar daily-wear watch with an “abundance of horsepower under its hood,” he or she will be hard pressed to find a more compelling alternative than the Date and Date Power Reserve in stainless steel. Even the Perpetual Calendar in stainless steel is lot of watch (a grand complication) for its price.

It will be interesting to see how the collection will evolve. I predict new references featuring other complications (moonphase, calendar, perhaps even a tourbillon!) in stainless steel, precious metals and perhaps versions with straps. In due course, JLC might replace its 1,000 Hour Control testing with the new HPG Seal across its entire range, exemplifying why the brand is known as The Watchmaker of Watchmakers. Exciting times ahead for them.
