Some of the most famous addresses in luxury travel are being reborn at once. Fairmont Renovations are now under way across around a fifth of the brand’s ninety-plus hotels, a rare wave of reinvestment driven by its promise to make special happen. Fairmont’s chief executive, Omer Acar, frames the programme as continuity rather than reinvention, celebrating a heritage unbroken since 1907 while positioning the brand firmly for the future. For anyone planning where to stay next, it helps to know which properties have just reopened, which are still to come, and when the closed icons return.
Which Fairmont hotels are getting the most spectacular makeovers?
The most ambitious project of all is unfolding in Bermuda. Fairmont Southampton is the largest redevelopment in the island’s history at USD 550 million, reimagining all 593 guestrooms, including 44 suites and a dedicated Fairmont Gold floor. The resort reopens in late 2026, and a new Palmetto Beach Club arrives first. Expect a half-Olympic-sized pool, an oceanfront grill, and private cabanas set along the pink sand of the South Shore. More than 4,180 square metres of event space and an 18-hole par-3 course complete the picture.
In London, The Savoy is the transformation most travellers will be watching. It revealed refreshed Edwardian rooms in 2025, and the renewed Art Deco bedrooms follow in summer 2026. Guests can once again choose between the address’s two very different personalities, with none of the glamour lost.
Switzerland offers the most complete reinvention. Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva has closed for a top-to-bottom restoration, adding new loggias to rooms facing Lake Geneva and reimagining more than 400 interiors. It returns in 2027 as a flagship for the city, and one worth pencilling in early.

Which renovated Fairmont hotels can you visit now?
If you would rather book than wait, several properties have already reopened. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge began as a cluster of luxury tents on Lac Beauvert back in 1915. Its main lodge reopened in June 2026 after a full repositioning of the 283-hectare resort. Guests now find new dining, redesigned rooms and an Adventure Concierge, ready just in time for summer in the Rockies.
Hawaii is in fine form too. Fairmont Orchid on Hawaii Island has completed a refresh inspired by the island’s landscapes and craftsmanship. The detail even reaches the bar, where a new cocktail is finished with honey from the resort’s own hives. On Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani has brought back its celebrated restaurant Kō, reworked around the food traditions that shaped the islands.

Vancouver has two to note. Fairmont Pacific Rim has expanded its Forbes Five-Star Wellness Club with a Himalayan salt sauna and a couples’ lounge. Nearby, Fairmont Waterfront has opened 96 redesigned coastal rooms, the first phase of a longer overhaul. Over in the United States, Fairmont Pittsburgh has quietly renewed its guest rooms and Health Club in the heart of downtown.
There is fresh news further east, too. Ottawa’s Fairmont Château Laurier has opened the acclaimed Akira Back restaurant, along with Émilie’s Terrace, which offers sweeping views of Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal. In the Laurentians, Fairmont Tremblant finishes its guestroom overhaul this autumn, crowned by a new Presidential Suite of around 111 square metres, the resort’s largest room yet.

When do the closed Fairmont hotels reopen?
A few favourites are away for a while yet. Fairmont Winnipeg closes on July 1, 2026, for a complete reinvention, with a return planned for summer 2027. Fairmont Beijing then shuts on September 1, 2026, for a full renovation; details still to come. In Québec City, the fairytale Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is growing its Fairmont Gold rooms from 70 to 104. More than 200 additional guestrooms are being renovated, with all work completed by 2028.

Beyond the headline projects, smaller upgrades keep landing across the portfolio. Fairmont Banff Springs refreshes its conference centre for early 2027, and Fairmont Empress in Victoria has reopened its historic Bengal Room. In San Diego, Fairmont Grand Del Mar has renovated its Addison restaurant, while Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York unveils a transformed retail promenade later this year. In Cairo, Fairmont Nile City is under active renovation too, proof that this round of Fairmont Renovations reaches almost every corner of the map.
