Al Futtaim Automotive to exhibit green mobility solutions at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo

The best from Volvo, Toyota and Polestar to feature on the air show

November looks set to be an exciting month for Middle East residents. Dubai will be hosting the region’s first-ever pop culture event called the PopConMe, followed by German carmaker Porsche organising the second season of its Icons of Porsche festival in the same month. The Abu Dhabi Air Expo, set between November 1-3, will start the month with a bang by showcasing the best and the upcoming advancements in the aviation ecosystem. And the event’s major sponsor, Al-Futtaim Automotive, would also be exhibiting its flagship buses, trucks and green mobility vehicles alongside the aviation industry.

The Al-Futtaim Automotive group represents many of the world’s most recognised brands, and the Abu Dhabi Air Expo serves as an ideal podium to showcase the future of on-ground mobility. The Al-Futtaim stand would comprise the next-generation Volvo XC90, Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX alongside many new models. New global sensations in future mobility, such as the Polestar 2, Volvo C40 and Volvo 7900 Electric Bus, are scheduled to be present. A host of aviation sector solutions, such as the TMH Electric Forklift, Towing Tractors and Hertz shuttle cars, will also be in attendance.

Earlier this year, Swedish performance carmaker Polestar became the latest brand to join the Al-Futtaim Automotive group. The EV brand committed to sustainability adds to the local group’s extensive stable of hybrid and electric vehicles that also carry the revolutionary hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai in its ranks. The Polestar 2, released in March this year, is a performance compact hatchback EV that may attract higher footfalls for the banner.

Another highlight includes the new Volvo Electric bus range that recently completed a six-month passenger trial in the UAE. The Volvo electric buses operate with zero emissions and noise and offer a new dimension for sustainable transport and smart city solutions. The models have undergone the Dubai-specific climate test for fast charging and the need for higher air-conditioning.

Speaking ahead of the event, Vincent Wijnen, Senior Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Automotive said: “The Abu Dhabi Air Show is an excellent opportunity to showcase our full line-up of models, services and innovations, from B2C to B2B offerings, which is testament to Al-Futtaim Automotive being recognised as a trusted mobility partner across diverse industries. At the same time, it’s a great occasion to showcase how we are committed to developing hybrid and electric mobility solutions that not only align with the UAE’s sustainability goals but also help customers and businesses across sectors achieve their sustainability targets.”

The final day of the Abu Dhabi Air Expo will see Al-Futtaim Automotive host a panel to discuss the ‘Developments in Green Mobility’. Panellists for this discussion comprise Al-Futtaim executives such as Vincent Wijnen, Senior Managing Director Al-Futtaim Automotive, Jonathan Pollock, Regional Managing Director of Emerging Brands, Al-Futtaim Automotive and Yousuf AlRaeesi, Director of GCR & HSSE Al-Futtaim Automotive.
