The C 63 S E Performance Gains An F1 Edition

The limited-run derivative is available for both saloon and estate body styles.

There’s no doubt that the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance is a mouthful. But there’s another side to the story. It does have the tech to not only match but outshine the naming nomenclature. Details include a hybrid powertrain, fully variable 4MATIC+ system, rear axle steering and know-how from Formula 1. And yet the brand decided to introduce an ‘F1 Edition’ of the car. What is it?

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition takes inspiration from the Official FIA F1 Medical Car. It’s a limited-run derivative that’ll be available for both saloon and estate body styles, but only during the first year of sales. If you like the sound of that, you’ll definitely appreciate what Mercedes-Benz has done to create it. For a start, the body colour is from the brand’s exclusive Manufaktur division, and it’s called Alpine Uni Grey. Coupled with it are the AMG logos and colour gradient on the car’s side, which also reveals the 20-inch rims in matt black. Red accent lines on the front, side and rear aprons add to the theatrics. Even the wheels boast red flanges.

Design cues aside, the car also gets the AMG Aerodynamics Package. That ropes in a larger front splitter, a front spoiler lip on the boot lid (for saloon only), an additional diffuser board and a few other redesigned elements. And courtesy of the AMG Night Package I and II, the ‘F1 Edition’ gains certain trim pieces in high gloss black and a few others, such as the exhaust outlets and the radiator grille, finished in black chrome.

Inside, the brand has opted for the very sporty all-black theme with red accents. The latter can be found on the stitching, seat side bolsters and even on the seatbelts. The AMG Performance seats are draped in black Nappa leather with embossed AMG logos, while the steering wheel has a blend of the same leather and Dinamica microfibre. Rather unsurprisingly, the door sills are backlit in red with AMG lettering. And to round things off, there’s an Edition badge, an F1 logo and AMG mats. The car also comes with an F1-branded cover, which, as per the carmaker, protects the vehicle from dust and scratches.

Mechanically, there are no changes to report. So if you could, would you get the F1 Edition of the C 63 S E Performance?
