Audi S5 Platinum Edition Launched In India

Available exclusively in Sportback form for a limited period, it costs INR 5.83 lakh more than the standard variant.

Last month, Audi India introduced two limited-run derivatives of the Q8 and the Q5. Now, we have a third one – the S5 Platinum Edition. It is priced at INR 81.57 lakh, making it INR 5.83 lakh dearer than the standard variant. However, don’t let that put you off because the new derivative offers more for the premium and is here only for this year’s festive season, dialling in the exclusivity factor.

So, how does the S5 Platinum Edition differentiate itself from the standard Sportback? The newcomer boasts Audi’s Black Styling Package Plus, which introduces black accents on the grille and the window surrounds. The car also dons red brake callipers with “S” branding, Matrix LED headlamps with Laser Light technology, Nappa leather upholstery in Magma Red, Sports Seats Plus with massage functionality, LED door sills with S logo and carbon fibre inserts inside the cabin. Lastly, the Audi S5 Sportback Platinum Edition is available in two exterior colours – District Green and Mythos Black.

Powering the Audi S5 Platinum Edition is the same 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that does duty in the standard car. That means a peak output of 349hp/500Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 4.8 seconds and an electronically-governed top speed of 250kmph. The self-locking centre differential, Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system and the 8-speed automatic transmission ensure little oomph goes to waste. And the S Sports suspension helps the driver relish the experience.

The features list of the Audi S5 Platinum Edition includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone automatic climate control, flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, a panoramic sunroof and a 180-watt sound system with 10 speakers.

So, there you have it. Do you think the premium that the Audi S5 Platinum Edition demands over the standard car is justified? Just for the exclusivity it will offer, I think yes.
