Manhart Gives BMW M2 Exciting Upgrades

The finished product is called the MH2 700.

Time and again, Manhart has proved its prowess in turning stock BMWs into rocketships (not literally, obviously!). And it hasn’t just carried such performance upgrades to modern-day models. Tuning projects with iconic models from the pages of history, such as the Alpina 2002 tii and the E30 M3, support that claim. Well, the folks from Wuppertal, Germany, are back with another BMW that is no longer in production but will, in all probability, become a future classic. It’s the first-gen M2, which, after Manhart is done doing what it knows best, becomes the MH2 700.

Anyone aware of how the German tuner christens completed projects will know that the MH2 700 will have at least 700hp on tap. In this case, it’s 715hp, to be precise. Do the math, and that’s an increase of over 74 per cent in horsepower compared to the standard 410hp the BMW M2 has. On the other hand, the torque has risen from 550Nm to 815Nm. In fact, Manhart has strengthened the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder powerplant enough to produce up to 1,200hp. In the MH2 700, Manhart has also installed an upgraded turbo, intercooler and watercooler by CSF, carbon air intake by ARMAspeed, aluminium charge pipes, a new crank hub, a Drexler differential and a new clutch. All that and, of course, an ECU remap.

Accompanying those new bits is Manhart’s stainless steel exhaust system with valve control. For export markets, the tuner can equip the system with race downpipes and OPF Delete replacement pipes made of stainless steel with 300-cell catalytic converters. One could order four 100mm tailpipes in matt black as well.

Yes, the braking and suspension systems have been upgraded as well. The MH2 700 packs a Manhart brake kit, including a cooling kit. That ropes in six-piston callipers from the F84 M4 GT4 on the front 395x34mm discs and four-piston callipers on the rear 380x30mm discs. And for that extra something, one could opt for the carbon-ceramic braking system. The car also packs the V3 Clubsport 3-way coilover suspension by KW.

The MH2 700 rides on Manhart Concave One rims in matt black, spanning 20 inches in diameter. They are wrapped with 265/25ZR20 tyres at the front and 295/25R20 rubber at the rear. Additionally, the coupe features a carbon-fibre rear wing, a Manhart CS-style bonnet, a carbon-fibre front spoiler and the tuner’s decal set in black with mint green accents. Side skirt attachments, a rear spoiler lip and a diffuser, all carbon fibre and sourced from the BMW M Performance program, complete the exterior styling changes. Inside the cabin, the car packs Recaro Sportster CS bucket seats, a Manhart roll bar, mint green colour accents and an AWRON auxiliary display.

So, what’s your take on the Manhart MH2 700?
