Bentley Continental GT S is the latest trim to offer sporty upgrades

Sits below Speed variant but gets a new sports exhaust among other additions

Luxury car manufacturer Bentley has introduced a new S trim level for its Continental GT and GTC grand tourers. This new S variant brings a host of black chromed elements, new two-tone upholstery for the interior and a sporty exhaust note to the Continental range.

Cosmetics is where the S trim brings the majority of the addition. All chrome elements on the Continental’s exteriors such as the grille, front bumper accents and the exhaust tips get replaced by dark chrome. The headlight and tail lights receive a dark tint for a sporty appearance. A new unique 22-inch alloy wheel design is also on offer along with S badging on the front fenders to help it distinguish from the standard model.

On the inside, a two-tone split combining leather and a sustainable and recycled suede material called Dinamica gets stitches up the cabin covering the doors, dashboard, center console, seats and even the steering wheel. The head rests on the seats get the ‘S’ emblem embroidered into it with a metal S emblem adoring the front fascia.

Mechanically, the Continental GT S is the same as the standard derivative. The 4.0-litre V8 engine gets retained with the 542bhp and 770Nm power output remaining unchanged. Though the S trim does deploy a new sports exhaust to enhance the pleasure of driving a V8 cruiser. A 48V active anti-roll system Bentley calls the Bentley Dynamic Ride also gets equipped as standard with the S for improved handling around corners.

Prices for the same weren’t declared upon unveiling though expect the Continental S to demand a premium over the standard models. Bentley believes these trim levels would make it easier for customer to choose the kind of emphasis they want their respective Bentley to project – Azure trim line for comfort or the S and Speed editions for performance.

The Continental GT is not the first Bentley offering to receive the sporty ‘S’ variant. Earlier this year, the UK-based luxury carmaker introduced the same in its Bentayga super SUV.
