Cadillac Lyriq EV and 682hp Escalade-V previewed in the Middle East

The futuristic Lyriq EV looks set to arrive in the UAE by next year

The recently concluded weekend witnessed the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center play host to the Auto Moto Show. It gets organised to showcase modified cars and bicycles while also playing host to carmakers to display their auto parts and accessories. Al Ghandi Auto, Cadillac’s exclusive dealer partner in the UAE, saw it as the perfect platform to introduce the all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ SUV to the Middle East region for the first time.

While the Lyriq EV is an insight into the impending crop of cars from Cadillac, the American carmaker also previewed a couple of models that exemplified the best from its current stable. The all-new Escalade-V SUV made its regional debut at the Auto Moto Show alongside the most powerful production Cadillac, CT5-V Blackwing, put on display.

The Cadillac Escalade has been an iconic nameplate for over two decades, and the latest V iteration makes it the most powerful full-size SUV. Cadillac has deployed a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine that puts out 682hp and 885Nm torques. The Escalade-V conforms with the rest of the performance-spec V series line-up in Cadillac’s stable, including the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing sedans.

Mark Jenkins, CEO of Al Ghandi Auto, said: “We’ve represented GM for over three decades and we continue to be amazed with every new nameplate that is released. The Escalade V is no exception, offering performance lovers a best-in-class SUV that perfectly combines power and style – we are honored to be dropping the curtains on it at the Auto Moto Show. We know how loved the iconic Escalade is and we’ve seen the impeccable welcome the Blackwings received, so we can confidently say our customers will not be disappointed with the Escalade-V. They are also about to be mesmerized by the electrifying LYRIQ EV, showing that performance and power will not be compromised as we move into the future of mobility. It stands out in every possible way!”

The Cadillac Lyriq EV runs on a dedicated Ultium electric architecture that offers a near 50-50 weight distribution. It houses a 12-module, 102 kWh battery pack, suitable for a range of up to 500kms, with the Lyriq further enabling fast charge, allowing customers to add approximately 125kms of range in 10 mins. The electric motor setup powers all four wheels and produces 500hp and 610Nm torque power output.

Kristian Aquilina, Managing Director of Cadillac International Operation and Cadillac Middle East, said: “Innovation is deeply rooted in Cadillac’s DNA. We regularly work hand in hand with our dealer partners to bring the latest technologies to our valued communities. This year, our respected partner Al Ghandi Auto will take the lead in introducing the much anticipated, ground-breaking Escalade-V to the UAE community, and we can’t wait to hear our customers’ feedback. We’re also very excited to showcase Cadillac’s all-electric future, spearheaded by the LYRIQ, as we all eagerly look forward to its arrival next year.”
