Renault unveils the funky Mobilize Duo

The successor of the Twizy with 140 km of range

After more than ten years in business, the Renault Twizy has finally found a successor. The latter is no longer a Renault, but a Mobilize, the new brand created by the French manufacturer. Specialized in alternative mobility solutions, Mobilize has unveiled the Duo, an electric quadricycle available on demand or by subscription.

With a length of only 2.43 m, the Duo is perfect for the city and its appearance is sure to attract the attention of passers-by. The original combination of black, grey and red can be customized as desired. The simplistic front and rear lights are LED. The two doors swing forward, a solution already adopted by the Twizy to facilitate access to the passenger compartment.

On board, two passengers can sit in tandem. The driver is faced with a digital instrument panel complete with a USB-C connected smartphone. Also, the steering wheel has an airbag, which is particularly rare for the category. Unlike the Twizy, the Duo’s seats are padded and have two different upholstery options. Also, the vehicle can be started via a smartphone application and remote updates are possible.

On the technical side, the Duo will be more versatile than the Twizy thanks to its 140 km range. It will therefore be able to leave the cities without difficulty and travel through the countryside. Mobilize will also offer two motors: a version limited to 45 kph accessible without a licence and a more powerful version reaching 80 kph. Designed to be sustainable, the Duo is made from 50% of recycled materials and is 95% recyclable.

Mobilize completes the range with a commercial version. Ideal for last-mile deliveries, the Bento replaces the Twizy Cargo. Instead of the passenger seat of the Duo, the Bento has a 700 l boot with hinged doors. The Mobilize Duo and Bento will arrive at the end of 2023 with the Citroën Ami as their main competitor.
