Finnair Announces Summer Flights To Six Nordic Destinations

In summer, the Nordic region becomes a popular holiday destination for European and Asian travellers. Finnair has announced flights to six Nordic destinations to fulfil the demand. These will operate between June and August 2024.

The list includes two Norwegian towns – Trondheim and Bodø. For the former, Finnair will operate ten weekly flights between June and the end of August. Restoring flights to Bodø, located above the Arctic Circle in the Northern part of the country, the carrier will fly five times weekly between June 17 and August 2.

Next are additional services to three domestic destinations – Kuusamo, Ivalo and Kittilä – all located in Northern Finland. Touted as Finnish Lapland, the airline is the only one that serves these locations all year round.

Last, but by no means least, Finnair will fly to Visby in Gotland, Sweden. Five weekly flights will be offered to the medieval city, also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, from June-end to early August.

Earlier this week, Finnair also announced flights to Tartu.

‘Sell My Audi’ Platform Launched In The Middle East

A new tool for existing Audi owners, who are either looking to exchange theirs for a new Audi or just want to sell their current one, has been introduced in the Middle East. Dubbed ‘Sell My Audi’, it’s a platform that offers online valuation of Audi cars. It considers various factors, including model, condition, mileage and market trends, to calculate the vehicle’s actual worth.

Besides convenience, the portal – www.sellmyaudi.me – bridges the gap between sellers and dealers. It is already live for customers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The German automaker aims to expand the service to more markets across the Middle East.

Akasa Air Orders 150 Boeing 737 Jets

At the ongoing Wings India 2024, Asia’s most prominent civil aviation event, the country’s newest airline, Akasa Air, has announced a firm order for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The order comprises two variants – the 737 Max 10 and the 737 Max 8-200.

In 2021, Akasa Air placed an order for 72 Boeing 737 jets, followed by an order for four 737 Max 8 aircraft in June 2023. With the latest order today, the airline has become the first Indian carrier to have an order book of over 200 aeroplanes within 17 months of starting operations.

Presently, all-Boeing Akasa Air operates 22 737 Max aircraft. Minus that from the total order of 226 jets, the American aircraft manufacturer has yet to deliver 204 derivatives. As per the airline, deliveries will continue over the next eight years.

Mahindra Aerostructures Bags New Airbus Contract

A new contract has been signed between Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL) and Airbus Aerostructures GmbH. It is for the former to manufacture and deliver metallic components for all Airbus commercial aircraft, including the hugely popular A320 family. The Indian company, which has its plant near Bengaluru, will supply nearly 5,000 variants of metallic components to Airbus Germany.

The new contract further expands business ties between the two companies. MASPL has been a direct supplier to Airbus Group since 2015. It has also partnered with the Toulouse-based aircraft manufacturer on various initiatives. Furthermore, MASPL has been recognised as a D2P “Challenger” for three years in the Sheet Metal domain. The company has also been categorised as level “A” in the Airbus Industrial Process Capability Assessment and bagged the “Best Performer” award in the 2023 Airbus Supplier Quality Improvement Program.

‘90s cinematography and hip-hop are some inspirations that designer Joe Freshgoods (JFG) has tried to capture in the New Balance Made In USA 990v4. The shoe is now on sale in the UAE. The standout highlights are classic black-and-white and white-and-black dual-tone schemes coupled with the textural variations of the New Balance’s 2016 silhouette.

The shoes feature suede overlays with mesh and patent leather underlays. JFG printed foxing, a ‘1998’ label on the heel, JFG branded inserts, cotton laces, ENCAP midsole, reflective inserts and a rubber outsole complete the package.

Finnair Announces Flights To Tartu

In case you’re unaware, Tartu, a city in southern Estonia, has been recognised as one of the three European Capitals of Culture for 2024. It and nearby areas will host over 300 events throughout the year. That means tourism will see a steep spike.

To serve its customers, Finnair has decided to launch a year-round service to Tartu starting March 31, 2024. The carrier will operate two flights daily, six days a week, between Helsinki and Tartu. The flight time between the two cities is about 40 minutes. An ATR aircraft will be used to ferry passengers. As things stand, no other airline offers a flight to Tartu.

Flights to Tartu will depart Helsinki at 1:50pm and 11:55pm, with scheduled arrival times of 2:35pm and 12:40am (+1) local time, respectively. The return flights will leave Tartu for Helsinki at 6:00am and 3:00pm to land in the Finnish capital at 6:40am and 3:40pm, respectively.

The new service will complement Finnair’s existing flights between Helsinki and Tallinn, Estonia’s capital. Up to ten Finnair flights a day operate on that route.

airBaltic And SWISS Codeshare Partnership Starts Soon

Latvia’s national carrier, airBaltic, and Switzerland’s flag carrier, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), will enforce their codeshare partnership from January 31, 2024. As per the agreement, the latter will add its code – LX – on the airBaltic-operated route from Zurich to Riga and vice versa.

The codeshare partnership is valid for to and fro flights between the two cities mentioned above in combination with a connecting service before or after the flight. This way, the passengers gain more flexibility for further connections beyond the capital cities of Latvia and Switzerland.
