Would You Pay $799 For These Bowers & Wilkins Headphones?

Look closely, and you’ll find McLaren branding as well.

The Px8 wireless headphones from Bowers & Wilkins are stunning to behold. They cost $699, which is quite a bit. But then the listening experience is right up there among the best. A while ago, Bowers & Wilkins also released a 007 Edition of the Px8 headphones. A similar stint has now been executed with another British brand. Say hello to the Px8 McLaren Edition, the first headphones to result from the long-standing relationship between Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren Automotive. The asking price is $799.

The new variant also honours the duo’s collaboration in the Artura supercar. However, it is the first project where the two came together. Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren Automotive have been developing audio systems for the carmaker’s exotic machines since 2015.

To create the Px8 McLaren Edition, both brands ensured that the end product is both unique and offers the kind of performance that Bowers & Wilkins is known for. The headphones feature a Galvanic grey finish with Papaya orange accents. According to the press release, the latter is inspired by the same bright orange shade that originated with Bruce McLaren’s early racing cars.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, the Px8 McLaren Edition feature 40mm Carbon Cone drive units, Qualcomm’s aptXTM Adaptive wireless tech and two ports – a USB-C and a 3.5mm analogue jack. Also, the headphones use Bowers & Wilkins’ proprietary noise-cancellation technology.

Listeners like to set up their headphones according to their tastes and requirement. For that, the Px8 McLaren Edition will make use of Bowers & Wilkins’ recently upgraded Music App. Not only will it help stream the chosen music directly from the mobile device but also allow for fine-tuning of the sound through an adjustable equaliser, activating/deactivating noise cancelling and displaying battery level.

There’s only one colour combination available for the Px8 McLaren Edition, unlike the standard headphones, which are available in black and tan finishes. Besides, a free 30-day return policy and a two-year warranty are part of the standard offerings.
