Volkswagen Amarok (2023) – The blood brother

Technology galore

The Volkswagen Amarok is now in its second generation after twelve years. For this new generation, the German pickup truck is based on the Ford Ranger but changes everything, the teams of the German brand have promised us! In terms of design, the vehicle is now more cubic in shape, offering a more robust and reassuring appearance at first glance. The headlights’ design is based on that of the large Crafter van, with square lamps and a hook-shaped light signature.

The profile emphasizes the particularly large wheel arches with wheel diameters ranging from 18 to 21 inches. As with the previous Amarok, this second generation also features a single or double cab. At the rear there are slimmed-down vertical taillights and the unmistakable Amarok lettering on the tailgate in very large letters. A hard tonneau cover will be available as an option.

In the interior, the new Amarok has made the digital environment its priority. This is demonstrated by the fact that the instrument panel consists of a 12-inch screen that can be configured as required, and another 12-inch screen for infotainment. The equipment is unsurprisingly numerous with an adaptive cruise control, LED matrix headlights, a wireless charging pad and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Under the bonnet, the Amarok offers a wide range of engines. There is a 2.0-litre diesel with 150, 170, 204 and 209 PS and a 3.0-litre with 241 or 250 PS. All of these powertrains are coupled with all-wheel drive, except for the 150 and 170 PS which are automatically rear-wheel drive. The same applies to the automatic gearbox, which is standard on all engines except the 150 and 170 PS. A 2.3 TSI is also part of the portfolio and is propelled to the top of the range with 302 PS.

The new Volkswagen Amarok will go on sale in Europe at the end of the year.
