All Nippon Airways And ITA Airways Sign Codeshare Agreement

Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways (ANA), and Italy’s national carrier, ITA Airways, have inked a codeshare agreement that will come into effect from January 24, 2024. As is the case with such mutual partnerships, both airlines will be able to offer enhanced connectivity via Rome Fiumicino and Tokyo Haneda airports.

All passengers of both carriers will be able to travel to their desired destination on a single ticket. Those travelling on ANA will have Rome as their entry point into Italy. However, their “NH” marked ticket will allow them to connect to five other Italian locations – Bologna, Venice, Turin, Florence and Naples. Similarly, ITA will mark their codesharing tickets with “AZ”, allowing passengers to travel to Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Itami, Kansai, Okinawa and Sapporo via Tokyo.

The duo is mulling to expand their codeshare partnership further, which will open more destinations for travellers.

Abarth and Stellantis Motorsport join forces to create the most powerful Abarth ever

Any car badged with the Abarth logo is destined to cater to the enthusiasts specifically. Now, this performance division of Italian carmaker Fiat has decided to collaborate with Stellantis Motorsport to set new standards in the electric automotive world. The first lovechild between this newfound alliance is already set to be the most powerful Abarth ever, courtesy of a 240hp output. The partnership also sees both banners coming together and bringing racing expertise and technological know-hows from its respective backgrounds to craft a new platform called the Perfo-eCMP. It’s a new platform based on the well-known eCMP and will see many new projects within the Group. This new Abarth is also equipped with a unique limited slip differential which was developed for the specific needs of a BEV powertrain and will feature an advanced braking system comprising bigger brake discs and larger disc surfaces for a better heat dissipation and fading resistance.

Chaos Karting opens in Dubai to bring video game power ups in real-world go-karting

March 2024 will witness Dubai receive a one-of-a-kind live-action go-karting experience called Chaos Karts. It’s designed to bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds by throwing digital projections with an augmented reality experience without the need of a headset or a personal screen. This allows visitors to ‘battle’ each other around 20-minute circuits to acquire jewels and power-ups, including laser guns, hammers, speed boosts, bombs, and the dreaded EMP as they race to the finish line in their electric karts. The virtual environment further lets players choose from a variety of track designs ranging between the Arabian desert to the cosmos. Prices for Chaos Karts start from 104 AED and the activity is located in Al Quoz. Ticket sales begin on January 10th via Fever (feverup.com) with the activity opening its doors for visitors from March 10th, 2024 onwards. Players can further try more fun and challenging games such as a laser maze, target shooting maze, zip-line, and more in The Cube, Chaos Karts Dubai’s dedicated immersive game space.

Air Serbia Announces Flights To Mostar

From April to October 2024, Air Serbia will operate flights from Belgrade to Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will be a thrice-a-week service on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, using an Embraer E175 aircraft. After the technical details and contracts are ironed out, the airline will publish the fares for the abovementioned service. This is likely to happen in a few weeks.

Once the flight link between Belgrade and Mostar is established, passengers can find more connections in Western and Northern Europe and the USA. Also, by adding Mostar to its network, Air Serbia will operate flights to 17 cities of the former Yugoslavia.

Transavia Gets Its First Airbus A320Neo

Last month, Transavia took delivery of its first Airbus A321Neo on lease from Air Lease Corporation. The low-cost carrier’s French arm has now inducted its first Airbus A320Neo, on lease from Avolon. A SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) blend powered the aircraft’s delivery flight from Airbus’ manufacturing site in Toulouse to Paris-Orly.

The carrier’s A320Neo has an 186-seat single-class configuration and features the new-gen CFM International LEAP-1A engines and Sharklets. Airbus’ Airspace XL bins raise the practicality quotient, providing 40 per cent more storage space than the standard stacks. Also, every seat has its own USB-C port. It will be used by Transavia France on its domestic network and across its European and Mediterranean routes.

Though, things went down differently in Dubai as 35 Ferrari cars, as part of the Ferrari UAE Club, paraded from Coca Cola Arena to Roxy Cinemas Boxpark on Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah, one day prior to the official release to celebrate the same. Post the parade, several of these prancing horse beauties were stationed outside the region’s first boutique cinema – Roxy Cinemas Boxpark. Hyundai Motor Group announces hydrogen-centric sustainable plans in New Year’s message

We’re two weeks, into the New Year, and the executives at Hyundai Motor Company have already announced plans to make automotive production and operation a more sustainable process. The South Korean automaker held its New Year address at Kia AutoLand Gwangmyeong, the first dedicated EV factory in Korea, and the senior officials highlighted the Group’s key areas of focus. Topping that list is to become “a top three global EV manufacturer by 2030”, courtesy of three EV plants – Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), Kia’s AutoLand Hwaseong EV Plant, and the Hyundai Motor Ulsan EV Plant, slated to get activated shortly. The Hyundai Group holds the tag of being the world’s first organization to commercialize hydrogen fuel cell EVs. Now, it aims to increase that head start in sustainable technology by “developing a hydrogen business ecosystem, encompassing the entire lifecycle, from hydrogen production to transportation, storage, and utilization through connecting the hydrogen business capabilities of each Hyundai affiliate.” The sustainable approach extends to the production facility also, as the group vows to implement solar power generation systems at both domestic and overseas production sites, to become carbon-neutral by 2045.

No airBaltic Service To And From Tel Aviv Until This Date

Latvia’s flag carrier, airBaltic, has announced that it has suspended all flights to and from Tel Aviv. This comes into immediate effect and will remain so until March 31, 2024. Due to the uncertainty in the region and to keep its passengers safe and secure, the airline decided to take this operational step. That said, airBaltic aims to keep a close eye on the developments and, based on how the situation progresses, will make necessary adjustments to its flight schedules.

The carrier is inviting all the affected passengers to either file for a refund online or get in touch for other possible changes via their customer care number.

EVA Air Orders 33 Airbus Jets

Airbus has bagged a firm order from EVA Air. It is for 18 A350-1000 widebody aircraft and 15 A321neo single-aisle jets. With this purchase, the Taiwanese airline became the latest carrier to opt for the flagship A350-1000, which can seat up to 410 passengers in a standard three-class configuration. The long-haulier is powered by two new-gen Rolls-Royce engines, which can help the aircraft cover up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000km) nonstop.

The A321neo, on the other hand, is one of the most popular aeroplanes for short- and medium-range routes. It currently dominates the segment with a market share of about 65 per cent. The A350 model range is also gaining popularity, with Airbus already bagging orders for over 1,000 units from 60 carriers worldwide. Both aircraft mentioned above can fly with up to 50 per cent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

MG Whale Bookings Open In The Middle East

At the Riyadh Motor Show last month, the MG Whale made its worldwide debut. Now, the SAIC-backed British brand has opened booking for the crossover for the Middle East region. Market-wise prices will be announced soon, but to put that in perspective, the starting price is USD 23,700, excluding taxes.

Details like the variant list and colour options are still under wraps. However, MG Middle East has revealed a few sets of specifications. For instance, the vehicle will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that outputs 228hp/370Nm. That will be coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the features front, the MG Whale will pack stuff like 6-way powered seats with memory function, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker Bose sound system, 256-colour ambient lighting and dual 12.3-inch displays, one each for infotainment and instrument cluster purposes. Other features, such as a two-tone interior, 360-degree camera, 19-inch alloy wheels, a wireless mobile charger and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, are also available.
