Thom Browne x Globe-Trotter: Luggage made for a lifetime

• Thom Browne x Globe-Trotter is a new three-piece luggage capsule, handcrafted in England. • It combines Globe-Trotter’s vulcanised fibreboard cases with Thom Browne’s pebble-grain leather and red, white and blue stripe. • The capsule includes a Large Check-In with a cover, a Carry-On and a compact Micro Case.

What is the Thom Browne x Globe-Trotter collaboration?

Thom Browne x Globe-Trotter is a luggage collaboration between the New York fashion house and the British luggage maker. It includes three black cases: a Large Check-In, a Carry-On and a Micro Case. Both brands focus on craftsmanship rather than trends, and both value heritage, precision and timeless design. Thom Browne’s approach to tailoring also matches Globe-Trotter’s long experience in luggage.

Globe-Trotter designs its cases to age with use and become more personal over time, much like Thom Browne’s clothes. The idea is luxury that lasts and can pass from one generation to the next.

What makes Globe-Trotter luggage special?

Founded in 1897, Globe-Trotter is a British luxury luggage brand with more than 125 years of history. Its artisans now hand-make every case in Hertfordshire, England, still using traditional methods and Victorian-era machinery. Its cases went on Sir Edmund Hillary’s Everest climb and Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic expedition. They also travelled on Queen Elizabeth II’s honeymoon.

Each case takes 98 separate processes and around 10 days to make. These steps include hand-moulded leather corners, handles, linings, rivets and steel lipping. The outer shell uses vulcanised fibreboard, Globe-Trotter’s signature material. Recycled paper, cotton, and wood pulp make up its 14 layers, creating a light but durable board. The brand says it is stronger than leather and lighter than aluminium. In the brand’s Elephant Test, a one-ton elephant stood on a cabin trunk to test its strength. Today, Globe-Trotter points to that test as a sign of how strong its cases are.

What details define the Thom Browne x Globe-Trotter cases?

On the outside, custom Thom Browne pebble-grain leather covers the corners and handles. Thom Browne’s red, white and blue (RWB) stripe also appears on all three cases. The two wheeled cases also carry a Thom Browne New York enamel plaque. Both have four wheels, and their TSA-approved key locks bear an engraved Globe-Trotter logo.

Inside, the wheeled cases have leather hinges and a Scotchgard-protected oxford lining in Thom Browne’s RWB university stripe. They also have RWB webbing straps with brass hardware. Finally, each wheeled case carries a unique serial number that links it to its craftsman.
