These Puma-made Porsche Shoes Are Worth Waiting For

They continue celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Porsche 911.

Earlier this month, Porsche unveiled an S/T version of its iconic 911 sports car. Conceived to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the model, it’s limited to just 1,963 units. But does that translate to an end of honouring six decades of rear-engined Porsche’s dominance? Nope. The celebrations continue with two limited-edition sneakers, cocreated by Porsche and global sportswear brand Puma.

The first has been tagged as a ‘Retro Sneaker’. As the name suggests, it sports a classic narrow and flat silhouette draped in the light blue colour of the 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.5. On the heel is the number ‘56’, while the tongue, woven with a grille badge of the Porsche 911 S/T, is made of leather. The production is limited to 1972 pairs, with the limitation number under the leather tab attached on the shoe’s side.

The other design is called ‘Heritage Sneaker’. It has been conceived to perfectly complement the Porsche 911 S/T. First, there’s the grey leather outside and the cognac-brown tone inside. Next, the starting number ‘63’ (referring to the model’s birth year of 1963) and Porsche lettering are on the heel. No points for guessing: the production is limited to 1963 copies, with single numbering on the textile underside of the leather tongue, which also bears a woven grille badge.

While the left shoe of both sneaker versions comes with red laces, the right one has black. However, the box has a set of spare laces in both colours. The sneaker’s limitation number is also on the tips of the laces. The numbers 56 (Retro) or 63 (Heritage) are also found in the heel area of the left sock liner. On the other hand, the right shoe’s sock liner has a black and white, or coloured, grill badge. Even the shoe bags and boxes are in the respective colour of the sneaker.

Porsche will launch these limited-run sneakers on September 5, 2023, at the IAA Mobility in Munich. They will be available on Porsche’s online shop, its factory stores in Zuffenhausen and Weissach, and the Porsche Museum store in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen from the next day. At Puma’s official website, these will be up for grabs from September 14 and September 24 in North America and Europe, respectively.
