The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed saw Italian automaker Maserati debut the new Maserati MCPura, thereby discontinuing the MC20 super sports car. The pictures would have one believe Maserati has mistakenly released the MC20 pictures, but in essence, the MCPura is a facelift of the MC20 super sports car, which itself earmarked a new era for the Maserati brand with its 2020 debut.
Evidently, the changes on the new Maserati MCPura over the MC20 cannot be described as drastic. It retains the same carbon fibre tub underpinnings as its predecessor, along with the dry-sumped Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine with the same power output of 630hp and 720 Nm torque, while being available as both a coupe and a convertible. Instead, Maserati claims, “The modifications focus on exterior design, materials, and interior finishes, but its core remains unchanged”.
The new bits on the MCPura comprise new paint schemes – Devil Orange and Verde Royale, and Night Interaction for the exterior. Though the launch car showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed boasted a New AI Aqua Rainbow paint – a shimmering, prism-inspired iridescent blue.
Keen-eyed purists would notice the new MCPura also boasts diamond-cut rims with matching logo finishes as well as new magenta-splashed Trident badging with blue mica accents. The freshly coloured Trident badging can now be seen on the grille, the C-pillar, and on the new rims too.
On the inside, the seats receive a brand new laser-etched Alcantara Ice finish, which further gets accentuated by brand-new Trident graphics on them. Those opting for the Cielo or convertible variant will enjoy the new electrochromic retractable glass roof, which changes from transparent to opaque in an instant – a unique feature in its segment.
The Maserati MCPura will be a genuine Made-in-Italy product as Maserati confirms production within the historic Maserati plant on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena. The factory already manufactures the Nettuno engine as well as the GT2 Stradale and, starting in the fourth quarter of 2025, the iconic GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be built as well. All customisation commissions will be taken over by the newly opened Officine Maserati Fuoriserie – a dedicated customization division situated within the House of the Trident.
Santo Ficili, Maserati COO, stated: “With the MCPURA, Maserati is once again back in its rightful place: at the top and its home turf. Both versions—the coupé and Cielo—were crafted in our historic plant in Modena, where the Trident’s legacy has thrived for over 90 years. This is where the entire production process of MCPURA takes place: we produce the Nettuno engine, assemble every component, and produce the most exclusive customizations in the new Maserati Officine Fuoriserie. Modena is more than a headquarters—it is part of our identity. We are the longest-standing carmaker in the Motor Valley, a region which we have helped shape and continue to represent throughout the world. It is from here that we proudly tell the story of Italian excellence and luxury.”
