The 1,914hp Rimac Nevera Has Entered Production

Only 150 units will be built, up to 50 in one year.

Those who followed this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will recall that there was a Rimac Nevera in action, attempting runs up the famous Hillclimb. That was the first full-production version of the electric hypercar. In other words, Rimac has already commenced the assembly process of the Nevera. And the car that was at the event mentioned before is known as #000 and will remain in Bugatti Rimac’s possession as a demo and marketing vehicle.

The brand’s plant in Zagreb, Croatia, will hand-build only 150 units of the Nevera with up to 50 units per year. Math reveals that the Nevera, at least in its current spec, will only be in production for three years. Bugatti Rimac says that each Nevera takes five weeks at the final assembly line. And the Rimac Nevera is already sold out for the first year. Dealer partners? There are 25 globally, serving the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The EV in question is not an ordinary one. It has four electric motors, each one serving a wheel. When all four are working in tandem, and at full strength, the Nevera has 1,914hp/2,360Nm at its disposal. Courtesy of that mammoth power and machine-shattering torque, the hypercar can hit 100kmph from nothing in 1.97 seconds. And get this – it can hit 300kmph from zero in 9.3 seconds. Braking time? Well, it can come to a complete stop from 402 metres in 8.6 seconds.

Backing that monstrous powertrain is a 120 kWh battery, which can take AC and DC feeds. For charging times, let’s list a few examples for zero to 80 per cent charge. A 250kW feed will take about 30 minutes, whereas a 350kW charger will slash 5 minutes out of that. If one could find a 500kw charger, the wait time drops to 19 minutes.

Rimac put some hard work into developing the Nevera. It took five years, comprising 1.6 million collective hours of research and development. During the period, the brand worked with three generations of powertrain tech, 18 prototypes and 45 physical crash tests.
