The new fourth-generation Honda CR-V breaks cover

Sees an all-new exterior design with a Civic-like cabin

The all-new Honda CR-V breaks cover and looks more dynamic and aligned with Honda’s family looks. The CR-V, now in its sixth generation, finds itself bigger than its predecessor with new interiors and an upgraded list of powertrains featuring evident hybridization.

Flanked by slim LED headlamps, the new CR-V’s face gives the impression of a sportier, more dynamic sibling to the recently launched BR-V family mover. Gone is the previous model’s stormtrooper-like front fascia, and in comes a new wide upfront grille. But the similarities to its more affordable cousin end there, as the new CR-V gets sportier treatment on both bumpers and an L-shaped tail light setup mounted on a steeply raked rear windscreen.

If the CR-V’s front fascia derives design inspiration from the BR-V, the cabin sees a lot more resemblance with the recently launched Honda Civic. The honeycomb mesh pattern of the AC vents has been replicated here, while the instrument cluster and the infotainment system are 7.0-inch and 9.0-inch all-digital units, respectively. The physical knobs for climate control settings have also been retained.

The new Honda CR-V’s powertrain options comprise a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre hybrid unit. The four-cylinder turbo petrol model produces 190hp and can be had with a CVT gearbox. The hybrid unit combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors to produce a combined output of 204hp. The transmission deployed with this mill is called Linear Shift Control and is aimed to mimic the speed-linked rev experience. Even though the SUV has been around since 1995, this generation would be the first to feature Hill Descent Control as standard.

Sustaining the commitment to build products close to the customer, Honda will continue to make the CR-V in its North American plants.
