The 1000 Miglia UAE Jubilee Edition will be UAE’s largest classic car rally

The 1000 Miglia UAE Jubilee Edition will be a four-day event in December 2022

Italy is home to strictly spectacular stuff. Pizza, Ferrari and the Mille Miglia, more commonly known as the most beautiful race in the world, are signature offerings of that country. While the world has adopted pizza and Ferrari with open arms, the Mille Miglia is now seeing global endorsement too. December 2022 will see Dubai host the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE Jubilee Edition, making it the largest-ever classic car rally held in the GCC.

Octanium Experiences LLC is organising the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE Jubilee Edition along with 1000 Miglia Srl – the Italian company that organises the original 1000 Miglia. The event is a four-day affair between December 4th to 8th, 2022. An extraordinary lineup of 100 teams from around the globe will be participating in this event. The vehicles in attendance range between 1927 to the present day, tasked to travel a 1,600km route through all seven Emirates of the UAE.

The classic car line-up includes some of the more prominent nameplates in the history of automobiles. For instance, the 1927 OM 665 “Superba”, a similar model that won the first 1000 Miglia in 1927, will compete in the UAE Jubilee Edition. Joining it would be a 1952 Porsche 356 with a 1953 South America Panamericana rally in its resume, alongside a 1964 Lincoln Continental that was bought by the then-Pope, only to change hands with Mother Teresa later on. A total of ten Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwings will be attending the event, making it the highest number ever seen in the UAE. Topping off this highly illustrious list is one of the most valuable Ferraris ever – a 1958 Ferrari 250GT California LWB Spyder and the first version of the Countach – the 1977 Lamborghini Countach LP400’ Periscopo’.

The event’s opening day, December 4th will be open for the public to soak in the extraordinary convoy of cars stationed for display. The Dubai Creek Golf Club will be hosting the entire classic car contingent across its lush green grounds, open to the public to attend without charge. Practical training for the competitors and technical scrutineering of the participating vehicles will be conducted as well.

December 5th will mark the flag off for this epic adventure. All cars line on the start line at the Greek Golf Club before embarking on the 1600km journey – a feat never attempted before by a classic car event in the UAE. The rally heads via the hillside hamlet of Hatta to the sinewy coastline of Fujairah for an overnight stay. The convoy further explores the rocky expanse of Ras Al Khaimah and the Jebel Jais road.

The route further takes the classic car convoy through the mangroves of Umm Al Quwain, followed by the dunes and archaeological sceneries of Sharjah, before returning to Dubai to end the second day. The final day will see cars travel to Abu Dhabi via Yas Marina Circuit for the grand finale at the majestic Emirates Palace Hotel.
