Porsche 911 Sally Carrera is real and on sale

This one-of-a-kind sports car pays tribute to the ‘Cars’ character

911 special editions have now become a standard affair. But none of the special editions has materialised from a digital avatar to a real one until now. Say hello to the one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 Sally Special.

This marks the first time Pixar has considered venturing into fabricating its movie characters in real-life. Moreover, the more obsessive ‘Cars’ fans stand a chance to own this one-unit-only blue Sally Special sports car as Porsche will auction the same at the upcoming Monterey Car Week auctions by RM Sotheby’s on August 20th. The proceeds from the sale would be donated to two charities – a young-women-centric foundation called Girls Inc and UNHCR, an American organisation that supports refugees from Ukraine.

Developed in collaboration with the production house Pixar, Porsche inculcates certain Sally personality elements into this “Cars” inspired limited edition sports car. For instance, the real-life Sally 911 gets painted in Sallybluemetallic, a custom paint hand-applied specifically for this project. Cars-fanatics would quickly point out the Sally tattoo beneath the rear spoiler. And the five-arm Turbo-look rims were reinterpreted by Porsche to accommodate the same in larger 20-/21-inch wheel dimensions of the current 911 generation.

The interior designers from Porsche had complete freedom, allowing them to embed the special Sallybluemetallic inside the cabin. Daniela Milošević, Porsche’s lead interior designer for the Sally Special, said, “911 Sally Special is meant to be driven often and gladly. We developed a special Pepita houndstooth fabric upholstery in three colours, combined with chalk-coloured leather and stitching in Speed Blue. Working out these details makes the project special and brings back a lot of memories of the movie and Sally Carrera.”

As a homage to the attorney’s love interest and the fastest individual in all of Radiator Springs, the Sport Chrono knob on the steering wheel reads, “Kachow Mode!”. The mechanicals of this one-off Sally Carrera is based on the 473hp 911 Carrera GTS with a seven-speed manual transmission as the lawyer liked to drive, just like her on-screen beau.

Interested buyers should note that bidding for this one-off Porsche Sally Special also gets you a unique chronograph by Porsche Design, also created in collaboration with Pixar. It gets the same Sallybluemetallic finish on the ring with an interior-like chalk-coloured leather strap. The strap is said to be replaceable with the alternative finished in Speed Blue and chalk contrast stitching. Powering this wristwatch is a COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.100 movement, manufactured at the brand’s watch-making facility in Switzerland.
