Connecticut-based Pratt & Whitney wasted no time springing into action as soon as the Paris Air Show 2025 kicked off. After announcing the Hot Section Plus upgrade for the PW1100G-JM powerplant and striking an engine deal with Frontier Airlines, Pratt & Whitney inked a long-term engine maintenance agreement with Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ largest carrier.
The deal signed between Cebu Pacific and Pratt & Whitney is for an EngineWise comprehensive maintenance plan for the former’s GTF engine fleet. The 12-year agreement will extend full support for the engines Cebu Pacific ordered in 2024, including an order to power up to 152 Airbus A321neo aircraft from July last year and the engines for the 15 A320neo family jets that were ordered in February 2024.
Business relations between Cebu Pacific and Pratt & Whitney extend back to the 1990s. Presently, the Pasay City-based airline has 56 aircraft in its fleet with Pratt & Whitney engines. Before the GTF engines deal between the two, the engine manufacturer supplied the carrier with JT8D powerplants that propelled the DC-9 aircraft fleet.
