The Nova Maldives festive season now has a name: The Garden Within. It runs from 19 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, on the resort’s island in South Ari Atoll. Across twenty days, the programme brings together celebration, wellbeing and creativity. The aim goes beyond rest. Nova wants guests to leave having grown a little.
What is The Garden Within at Nova Maldives?
The Garden Within grows out of Nova’s all-inclusive community concept. Here, guests, staff and island life sit close together, and the Nova Maldives festive season reflects that. The programme leans as much on barefoot days and unhurried moments as on its big set pieces. So, guests can drift between communal evenings and long quiet stretches, at whatever pace suits them. By the end, Nova hopes each visitor carries home a little more space for something new.
What happens on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve?
The Magic of Christmas opens the season. The island gathers beneath twinkling lights for the tree lighting, and Santa Claus arrives soon after. Then, on Christmas Day, attention turns to the Grand Holhuashi. This gathering of storytelling, music and craft dates back to the seafaring villages of old Maldives, when communities met at day’s end to mark the moment together. From there, cocktail parties and gala dinners carry the season towards New Year’s Eve, and fireworks close it at midnight.
The evenings keep moving between the set pieces. Resident bands Supremacy and The Kabans play throughout the period, fire shows light the beach, and Wink hosts tiki nights. For slower conversations, an intimate shisha and cigar lounge stays open.

What wellness experiences run over the festive season?
Eskape Spa sits overwater above the lagoon, with three treatment rooms and a yoga pavilion. For the festive season, it adds a short run of limited-time rituals. Reikilogy pairs Reiki with foot reflexology, while Abhyanga uses warm oil and rhythmic strokes in the Ayurvedic tradition.
The quietest moment comes on Christmas Eve. The Soma Nāda Sound Journey unfolds in the open beneath the Cold Moon, and slow vibrations draw guests inward. Meanwhile, Sunday mornings bring the Arogya Potli Workshop. Guests tie fragrant herbs and spices into a small pouch, then carry a piece of Nova’s garden home.

What is on the festive menu at Nova Maldives?
Light bites carry the day. Dim Sum and Sushi keep hunger at bay, and Soul Kitchen runs the Truly Maldivian Flavours workshop for guests who want the recipes as well as the meal. At night, overwater restaurant Mizu offers two festive menus. Nova Sora Umi: Blooming Ocean is a Japanese feast inspired by the meeting of sky and sea, and it runs daily. Umi no Sachi: Bountiful Harvest of the Sea lays out six courses of the ocean’s best on Christmas and New Year’s Eve only.
Couples can skip the restaurants altogether. One option puts grilled lobster and sparkling wine on the beach under the stars. Another, the Castaway experience, sails guests out to a sandbank with Prosecco and canapés. After that, candlelight and company do the rest.
What ocean experiences does Nova Maldives offer?
South Ari Atoll draws divers all year. The resort notes it is the only region in the Maldives where you can see whale sharks year-round. More than 30 manta points, whale shark points, wrecks and dive sites also lie within 40 minutes of the island.
Over the festive period, Whale Shark Snorkelling and Manta Quest outings run through the period, while beginner-friendly scuba tours take first-timers down. Guests can give something back, too. Guests can join reef clean-ups, and the Coral Garden Sponsorship lets visitors plant a coral frame with Nova’s marine team.
How much does the Nova Maldives festive season cost?
