Nissan Couldn’t Wait Any More To Launch Magnite Red Edition

It was supposed to reveal prices on July 18, 2022.

Earlier this month, Nissan India left us a date – July 18, 2022. That was the day it would launch the Magnite Red Edition. But the Japanese carmaker has jumped the gun, and the particular version is already with us. The Magnite Red Edition celebrates one lakh bookings and more than 50,000 deliveries for the SUV. And it does so by offering a package embellished with red accents inside and out. Here’s the variant-wise price list:

• Petrol-MT XV: INR 7.87 lakh

• Turbo Petrol-MT XV: INR 9.25 lakh

• Turbo Petrol-CVT XV: INR 10.00 lakh

Simple math reveals that the Magnite in Red Edition demands a premium of INR 25,000 over the standard variants. And what do you get in return? On the outside, the sub-compact SUV features red accents on the front grille, front bumper cladding, wheel arch and body-side cladding. Also, there are body graphics, a tail door garnish and a RED Edition badge. Indoors, the dashboard, the seats, the centre console, and the doors feature sporty-looking red inserts. And the Magnite Red Edition is available in just two monotone colours – Onyx Black and Storm White.

The Nissan Magnite Red Edition has two petrol engine options – a naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre and its turbocharged version. The former offers 71bhp/96Nm and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the latter delivers 99bhp/160Nm with the same gearbox but also has the option of a CVT. Opting for the two-pedal setup reduces the peak torque by 8Nm.

Features? You can have stuff like a PM2.5 filter, LED scuff plates, ambient lighting and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with WiFi connectivity and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list also includes Vehicle Dynamics Control, Traction Control System, a push-button start/stop, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, Hill Start Assist and a rear-view camera.

The Nissan Magnite is one of the most affordable sub-compact SUVs in India. Besides competing with its step-sibling, the Renault Kiger, it also rivals Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Mahindra XUV300.
