Maruti Suzuki revamps the Brezza compact SUV with more tech

It gets new looks and modern interiors

In recent years, the Vitara Brezza has been Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling car in the rapid-selling segment of compact SUVs. While Vitara Brezza debuted in 2016, it continues to sell like hot cakes even today. It appears Maruti Suzuki wanted to better its already good proposition, which is why India’s largest carmaker has readied an all-new version called Brezza.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the all-new Brezza compact SUV in India today, with prices starting at Rs 7.99 lakh for the base trim and going up to Rs 13.96 lakh for the top-spec variant. The new Brezza features a sharper design language, a revamped cabin and a lot more technology than ever before. The compact SUV is available to book via Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships, with deliveries set to commence in the coming days.

Though the new Brezza sits on the same Global C platform as its predecessor, it gets a revamped front fascia with a new headlight design with the same treatment being extended to the rear with new taillights and tweaked rear design. Two new optional accessory packages dubbed ‘Terrascape’ and ‘Metroscape’ are also offered, with the former equipping plastic cladding and rugged cosmetic elements while the latter brings an urban premium look to the exterior. In terms of dimensions, the new Brezza carries the same length, width and wheelbase as the Vitara Brezza but benefits from a 45mm increase in height.

A new dual-tone dashboard design features in the new Brezza, with a layout similar to the one seen in the new Baleno hatchback. The familiarity with the Baleno continues in various cabin elements, including the steering wheel, switchgear, instrument cluster and the infotainment system. Top trims of the new Brezza will come equipped with a 9.0-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, Arkamys sound system, heads-up display, wireless charging and a sunroof. Safety also sees a significant upgrade with a segment-first 360-degree camera, hill-hold assist, and six airbags, among many others

The new Brezza will be powered by the 1.5-litre K15C engine that debuted with the new Ertiga and XL6 MPVs. Power output gets rated at 103hp and 137Nm while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. A 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with paddle shifters is also on offer on top trims. The new Brezza is a petrol-only compact SUV with no diesel engines and the only one in the segment to feature mild-hybrid technology. Maruti claims the manual Brezza would offer 20.15kmpl and 19.80kmpl for the automatic. A Brezza CNG is also set to follow soon.

Maruti Suzuki is offering the new Brezza under its subscription ownership scheme with a monthly fee of INR 18,300. The new Brezza will compete against the likes of the newly updated Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and others in the heavily crowded compact SUV segment.
