New Citroen e-C3 Heads Fourth-Generation Model Range

It can travel up to 320km on a single charge.

What you see here is the first derivative of the fourth-generation Citroen C3. To be precise, it’s the all-new e-C3. You guessed it! It is an EV (Electric Vehicle). And although it looks butch-ish, the dimensions confirm that it is a compact city runabout. It measures just 4.01 metres in length, while the width and height figures are 1.76 and 1.57 metres, respectively. The ground clearance is 163mm. Compared to the previous model, the new one is 19mm longer, 6mm wider and rides 28mm higher.

Powering the new Citroen e-C3 is a single electric motor that produces 113hp. That helps it accelerate to 100kmph from a standstill in about 11 seconds. The provisional top speed is 135kmph. The propulsion system is backed by a 44kWh battery, efficient enough to deliver a range of up to 320km. Using a standard 7.4kW AC charger, that battery will take around 4 hours and 10 minutes to charge from 20 to 80 per cent. The wait time drops to 2 hours 50 minutes if an 11kW AC charger is available. However, the new Citroen e-C3 can also take feeds of up to 100kW from a DC charging station. With that plugged in, the wait time drops further to 26 minutes.

The new Citroen e-C3 also becomes the first derivative in the model’s history to feature the brand’s Advanced Comfort Suspension as standard. That will pay dividends in ride quality. Another highlight of the features list is the e-Routes application, which helps with route planning for longer journeys. The list of creature comforts also includes a head-up display, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 60:40 split rear seat, automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a host of connected-car features.

Yes, the new Citroen e-C3 also packs an array of safety and driver assistance systems. The list includes emergency automatic braking, Active Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Alert, Speed Limited Recognition, Electric Parking Brake, automatic headlamps and a rear-view camera.

Citroen will launch the new e-C3 in the second quarter of 2024. It will be produced at Stellantis’ Trnava plant in Slovakia. Pricing? In Europe, the fourth-gen Citroen e-C3 will be available in ‘You’ and ‘Max’ variants. The starting price is EUR 23,300. In 2025, a new 200km range derivative will be introduced, sporting a starting price tag of EUR 19,990.
