Mallet London is a premium British sneaker brand with accessibility at its core

The brand was founded to bridge a gap in the market for premium, stylish sneakers that wouldn’t break the bank

The sneaker world has come alive more now than ever. Options galore for both brands and products, but this enormous collection is mainly accessible to the more fortunate sections of society. The same was felt by reality TV star Tommy Mallet when he was handed a pair of shoes for a photo shoot, which he could not afford at the time. That made him a gap in the market for premium, stylish sneakers that wouldn’t break the bank, and he designed his first shoe. He then partnered with a young Evren Ozka, boasting a background in textiles and manufacturing, with a similar analysis of the sneaker market to launch the Mallet London footwear brand.

Mallet London has quickly evolved into one of the fastest-growing premium footwear and clothing British brands in the UK since its official launch in 2015. With the current sneaker market oversaturated with excessively priced products, co-founder Tommy Mallet insisted on having accessibility at the core of the premium brand’s ethos.

The Middle East’s buzzing fashion sector, along with the region’s distinctive style of brands and influencers, has global brands wanting a piece of this growing pie. Mallet London is no different, and Co-Founder & Business Director Evren Ozka further noticed an appetite for European brands in the region, leading the brand to mark its presence there. He believes that Mallet London’s unique designs will resonate with the people of the Middle East.

In an attempt to reach out to larger sections of Middle Eastern society, the innovative British brand even participated in the first-ever neo-culture festival in Abu Dhabi – BRED, presented by Hypebeast in the final week of April 2023. Mallet London’s participation in the festival is said to have brought an extra layer of excitement to the program, with the brand teasing a sneak peek at its upcoming collections, including the highly anticipated summer drop.

Mallet London has been claimed to be central in blurring the lines between sportswear and luxury. The brand has quickly caught up on popular trends, the most notable one being the combining sneakers with a suit, which led to the creation of a new style called the “tailored mood”. This style sees a sleek pair of sneakers replace the traditional dress shoe, and Mallet London’s Holloway introduces a new evolution of Mallet runner styles, focusing on lightweight luxury comfort. This retro running-inspired sneaker combines a black sporty single-layer underlay with a stylish off-white leather look overlay for exterior design while sitting on a springy soft white midsole for maximum comfort.

Another tailored mood offering is a sneaker constructed with premium suede, scuba, and leather called the Iconic Mallet Popham Black Trainer. It comes detailed with the brand’s signature branded heel clip and mesh panelling complimenting the suede overlays in black. Mallet London claims both sneakers can blend seamlessly with the suit, adding a touch of casual elegance to the outfit. The key to pulling off the suit-with-sneaker look is to choose a pair of sneakers that complement the suit’s style and colour.
