Koenigsegg CC850’s limited-production raised

The brand had to accommodate more units to cater to heightened demand

The Koenigsegg CC850, a 1385hp hypercar released by the company as a 20th-anniversary gift to self, was announced as a limited-edition unit. The brand restricted the CC850’s production run to 50 units to commemorate the founder’s 50th birthday. But heightened demand at the vehicle’s unveiling has forced the brand to accommodate more units.

The Swedish carmaker claimed, “We are happy to announce that the CC850 sold out in record time after last week’s reveal in Monterey, California. It quickly became evident that the planned number of 50 cars was too limited, as this meant that not even the most loyal of Koenigsegg owners could all get their desired share of CC850s, while hopeful new owners would also not be able to obtain one.”

Hence, Koenigsegg recently announced an extension in the production units of the CC850 from the original 50 to 70 units. Founder Christian von Koenigsegg commented, “The response to the CC850 is overwhelming. Producing an additional 20 on top of the planned 50 CC850s is still not even close to demand, but it gives us the chance to consider the brand loyalists to a larger degree, while also welcoming a small portion of new owners”.

Unveiled at the recently-concluded Monterey Car Week, the CC850 is said to have been devised with the mission to “deliver the purest, most fundamentally joyful driving experience of any Koenigsegg so far.” It combines the ideal 1:1 power-to-weight ratio of the Koenigsegg One:1 and gets powered by the in-house developed 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with no flywheel, similar to the Jesko.
