Ford is going to replace an iconic car. After seven years of loyal service, the current Mustang will be replaced by a seventh generation on September 14. The new Mustang will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. For this final stretch, Mike Levine, Ford’s director of product communications in the US, gave us a sneak preview of the new model on his Twitter account.
Unsurprisingly camouflaged, the seventh-gen muscle car reveals a very similar look to the outgoing model, combining a long bonnet with a sloping roofline to complete the fastback styling. The headlights are expected to become sharper and wider, as is the grille. The interior will be the most important area of improvement, with a significant improvement in perceived quality.
The touchscreen will be enlarged and will overhang the revised ventilation controls. The digital instrument cluster will remain as on the current Mustang. Good news under the bonnet where the car will stay true to the V8 and the manual gearbox. The biggest news will be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain that will offer both decent performance and good fuel economy.
