There are many holidays you’ve never heard of around the world. Here in America, we’ve got President’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Independence Day, which are uniquely American and unheard of around the world. Kia is setting their automotive holiday with their semi-annual Kia EV Day, but don’t expect to get a day off. Instead, get ready to see the Korean goliath’s electric vehicle strategy, architecture updates, and new cars they’re planning on releasing very soon.
First debuting in 2023 in Korea, Kia EV Day, is the showcase for the newest, latest, and greatest electric models they’re planning on introducing to advance sustainable mobility. The main instrument they plan on using is their Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV). This modular design will allow most vehicles to be constructed in a skateboard style with interchangeable bodies. While this method has been theorized and forecasted for decades, Kia is implementing it.

The architecture of PBV is neat and futuristic, the cars will be the true stars. On-site for Kia EV Day will be the new EV4, PV5, and Concept EV2. The latter is a compact EV and the newest of the three, as the other two were previously unveiled at the prior EV Day and CES in Las Vegas.
While not the holiday you want, this might become a big thing in the future. I don’t see many other concepts and corporate update holidays from other manufacturers, but we need a bit more of a circus atmosphere for Kia EV Day to be marked on my calendar. They’ve got the PBV strategy, details of the business, vision, products, cars, and support to talk about, but I’d love to see them demonstrate and drive these battery-powered cars hard during EV Day. Maybe Kia EV Day meets Goodwood. That is a holiday I can get behind. Regardless, look for more Kia updates soon!
Cheers,
